so i looked back at the history seems like they typically just name the election winner person of the year. trump in 2016, obama in 2012 and 2008. G Dubya in 2004 and 2000, Clinton before that.
still think it shoulda been the front line workers. kinda a slap in the face if you ask me.

this isn't going to be good for democrats...

Joe Biden would be the first person to tell you he doesn't deserve that distinction

#ripoff, for all the reasons mentioned above and I'm sure more.
Fauci, health care workers, and the movement for racial justice get "Guardians Of The Year." wtf is that? Booby prize?

I support the decision, strictly because it will piss Trump off.

I think it should have been the health care workers, not Fauci. That being said the precedent for incoming Presidents is there and Harris is the first woman VP the first black and Asian VP. Getting rid of the nightmare that is Trump is also a pretty big factor.

I support the decision, strictly because it will piss Trump off. The only thing I like about their pick. Maybe the Time editors were thinking the same?

TIME jumped the shark when they gave woman of the year to the Bruce-kaityln Jenner for getting a sex change. Wasn't it the same 'year' that she crashed her car and hurt/killed someone and brushed it under the rug with lawyers?

Controversy sells. We are talking about it, thus bolstering Time's dwindling relevance.

Speaking of dwindling relevance, in 2020 I'm kind of surprised anybody really gives a shit about who Time thinks is the person of the year.

Speaking of dwindling relevance, in 2020 I'm kind of surprised anybody really gives a shit about who Time thinks is the person of the year. eh, its one of the few annual things people talk about each year though. maybe we don't all give a shit about it generally speaking, but it sparks conversation. and obviously the mass media still thinks people care about it, enough to report on it at least.

I always looked at it as I do the Oscars. They may make some stupid picks from time to time, but it's their party/magazine, not some universally decided prize that affects me or negates my opinion, so I don't really concern myself if I don't agree.
