If we had popular vote elections the right would never win I read an article not too long ago about tweaking the electoral college, it was basically saying the EC isn't fair but that switching to the popular vote would never get through the system. Both of which I agreed with. The proposed solutions was some sort of variation that 2 EC points for each state would be tied to the overall popular vote winner and the remaining EC points would go to the winner of each of the states congressional district. Meaning that no state would be solid blue or solid red but that the map would have blue and red all over. Not sure this has a chance either, but you would have to start somewhere. I think if we can figure out a real way to clean up gerrymandering (at national, state and local levels) and the primary process that would be more impactful. That would hopefully allow for a more true representational government. |

If Congress has to approve changes to the EC and I'm almost certain they do, there is no chance of it ever changing unless the Dems get some sort of super-majority which also isn't happening anytime soon. Republicans know the EC is the only way for them to win Presidential elections. W is the only Republican to win the popular vote since 1992 and that was only because of 9/11.

I watched the last 5 mins of the AZ senate race debate here last night and in case ya didn’t know Kari Lake defines Bat Shit Crazy and even some super hardcore Trumpers are not voting for her and going with Ruben Gallego. Arizona is a red state with blue Stars and Stripes it’s weird.
