Then why doesn't the US have a history of electing a majority of progressives to House/Senate/White House and instead going with Dem Third Way moderate candidates like Clinton and Obama who actually win? If it's so progressive, why have you had these issues with candidates like Biden ('the most progressive president in our history') being nominated and elected?
The GOP base is right to far right. They lost running more moderate candidates, wised up, listened to their base, and have shifted on the spectrum - the base lead, the party followed.
The Dems have lost when they've run more progressive candidates. They made a shift to the center because they figured that's where their base and the GOP moderates are and started winning again. If their base truly was progressive(s) they'd run candidates that reflect that. If the base is so progressive, why aren't they doing like the GOP by leading and making the party follow them?
If America, or just the Dems, are so progressive, where's the historical data backing that up?

Bernie and AOC are both very popular.
The Dems aren't even trying to be progressive. That's the issue.

"If the base is so progressive, why aren't they doing like the GOP by leading and making the party follow them?" 100% this. Now we're asking the real questions. The answer is: the entire right wing is of the same mind and are going to vote in mass for Trump. They have coalesced under a banner of racism and owning the libs. On the democratic side, I'm seeing just from our conversations on this board how hard it is to get a bunch of left leaning individuals to agree to insist on progressive policies from our representatives. The resistance is coming from the inside, which creates a 2 front war for progressives like me; trying to keep our house clean, and beating back maga. We have the numbers, we just don't vote. Corporate news propaganda and fear mongering keeps us separated and unfocused, it f'n sucks. Just have to keep trying to build the world we want..

I don't think the right is nearly as united as you think...
The majority of America still falls somewhere in the middle of the spectrum

The left supports diversity. So it only makes sense that the only to things we agree on is not liking the right and respecting each others diverse opinions.
If you want the left to gather around a concept you need to start living a life that makes it so others want to follow your lead. Simply complaining that we don't agree isn't enough. Taking care of the environment is a good example. Most people can agree it is important and when you see others living a clean lifestyle it has a trickle down effect on others.

I don't think the right is nearly as united as you think... The majority of America still falls somewhere in the middle of the spectrum yep that's correct. i'd be willing to wager that we have close to a 50/50 split again among people who vote and who aren't voting this election. but it is once again the most important election of our lives or whatever...

I know know a few people who were vocally MAGA who didn't vote last election. These people are just openly angry because they're grown children who aren't coddled enough for their liking. They're rarely actually politically active or know anything about the system. Career C students.
