Harris has my vote too, because the Trumpers are the worst kinds of morons around. Trying to claw back a reality that never was, fucking exhausting assholes.

I will vote for her because of everything her opponent stands for. She is still feeding the war machine and I do not believe one person funding murder is all that much better than another person funding murder. It all seems evil. You guys know how alliances work right? They’ve been pushing for a cease fire.

Do you think our involvement is creating us more friends or enemies in the middle east? Will their children and grandchildren be our friends or enemies in the future.

She's not winning over many progressives with her stance on Israel. The democrats already let all their wins slip away with inaction. Now Roe v Wade is dead, but don't blame them for that cuz...? Like I said yesterday, there are virtually no members of congress who aren't on the side of funding Israel 100%. The ones who do speak up like Talib are called terrorists and Hamas sympathizers. Also, are you blaming Democrats for Roe falling?

Less funding would probably lead to less effectiveness of the iron dome which would lead to more Israeli deaths which would then lead to Israel giving no fucks because now they don’t need to worry about our influence. Also, pretty much all the topics that you guys blame Biden/harris for are actually directly related to congress. This current group has been THE LEAST PRODUCTIVE IN HISTORY.

Also, how wonderful that people can say they’re not inspired enough or they just don’t care enough to vote for Harris/Walz. If you can look at what’s at stake and how this would affect people and STILL have that mentality, it makes me sick. nice backhanded insult.
i was just answering hokies question as to "how this is still a race", not necessarily explaining my own stance. but whatevs...

I didn’t say that’s how you felt. I know there’s a lot of people out there with that mentality.

Also, are you blaming Democrats for Roe falling? Yeah, seeing as they could've codified it while Obama was in office but they were more worried about using the possibility of it failing as a fundraising tool. That's a failing of congress, it doesn't have to extend to the White House but it does. Harris is a pretty crappy option and I won't pretend she's not.

Someone who is smarter than I am bump those threads from 2016 leading up to November when we talked extensively about the importance of ensuring that trump wasn't able to appoint supreme court justices.

We keep saying this at each other so I'm sure it won't change your mind, but this has been the most progressive Presidential term in the history of our country, by miles and miles. When will it be progressive enough for you? When it gets so progressive that you lose the democrats who aren't progressive? Of course it's all about power, because if you don't have it, you can't do anything at all. What should motivate the base is being able to make your own healthcare decisions if you are a woman, knowing that the EPA and other Government agencies are tasked with keeping you safer and not with making corporations richer through deregulation, preventing the other guy from nominating 2 or three more Kavanaughs to the already comical Republican Supreme Court, preventing him from firing half the Government and installing a bunch of morons who are loyal only to him and on and on and on. Even if this has been the most progressive presidential term in ages we are still looking at a 1 step forward, 3 steps back situation. Progressive means moving forward, not backwards which is the direction we are clearly going. I'll take table scraps if the alternative is starvation but I'm positive we can all eat. We need red meat in the form a powerful policies that create real world change for ordinary Americans. meat! This is the way to getting more people out to vote. It is the path to victory.

America just ain't that progressive (outside of a few small pockets). The Dem party is more "Third Way" Clinton than Liberal McGovern. Look at Congress and the Senate. You can count the progressive Senators on one hand, and the most known of them isn't even a Democrat. On the House side they're so small as to be mostly insignificant. They've recently been primaried within their own party by those looking to replace them with candidates who are more moderate. If Biden is "the most progressive president in the history of our country" (I'm not saying he isn't) it just shows how little movement to the left it takes for people to consider him so. In a town where every other parent places a curfew on their teenagers to be home by 7 at night, if your parents let you stay out till 7:05 that makes them the coolest parents in town, though I'd argue it doesn't mean their actually cool.
If the GOP base is now far-right, the Dem base is no further left than centrist/moderate. It seems as unrealistic to expect the Dem party to be truly progressive as it does to expect pigs to fly. The DNC knows who their base is far better and with details backed by data. They know the base isn't a bunch of progressive stoners on a jam band chat forum. They know what it takes to appeal to those outside their base who aren't Dems, but might vote Dem if sufficiently motivated. It's why they keep eventually throwing moderates at the electorate. They probably figure the lefties will fall in line with the moderate once any progressives drop out of the primary because they have no other option that's practical. The Dem presidential candidate has won every popular vote since '04, so they must be doing something right. They're fine with The Squad (except for when they aren't), small as they are, but I'm not expecting to suddenly want to go back to pushing nationally for old school Liberal Dem candidates with a capital L.
