It looks like you do qualify...120 payments, so 10 years and you're good. I would look into that for sure I'd look into it if I were you

What is it that you aren’t able to do? Buy a house? Travel? Hookers and blow?
Like what is your goal here?

A bit of 1 & 2.
The complete lack of empathy isn't very cool.

A bit of 1 & 2. The complete lack of empathy isn't very cool. I think everyone has shown a ton of empathy. Definitely more than you generally show others. Plus. Being empathetic doesn't necessarily mean agreeing.

A bit of 1 & 2. The complete lack of empathy isn't very cool. I’m just trying to understand. Harris wants to give first time homebuyers a $25000 credit towards a down payment. And you can buy a home with student loans as long as you’re not in default. Is it a matter of saving? Can you cut back on some things and pocket the money? Can you get a part time job? Can you move in with a family member/friend to save money? Where there’s a will, there’s a way. And I’d love to travel more but it’s just not in the cards. That’s life, unfortunately.

I will say this. We are all empathizing with you and trying to counsel best we can in your best interest. We do care about you and some of us are in a very similar boat as you. I realize sometimes it's hard to feel or accept empathy but we are 100% giving you that and want to be here to help you find a way to help yourself be in a better place. I wish you knew how much we cared.

I'll never be able to cut back enough to get out from under. I'm pretty sure I'm still paying for the year I wasn't even there. Part time jobs are possible but my knee is getting worse and I don't know how I'd do if I have to stand around for hours. I've been trying very hard for the last four years to turn things around for myself and it barely seems to have done anything. I'm exhausted, depressed and lack the resources to change things for the foreseeable future. Sorry for ruining the thread, treetop. I don't think there's a viable way forward if we're not going shift from status quo. God bless you for trying to find one.

Think about a grow tent if your living situation is conducive to that. I kept my house out of foreclosure and kept a few extra bucks in my wallet for a few years that way. If I lived in VA or MD or was childless, I'd still be doing it.

I know its kinda the same here but you should still be able to make a couple grand every few months. With the availability of good equipment and basically no legal risk it's still a way to supplement income without getting a second job.

Mushrooms are easier to conceal, cost less to setup and are possibly in higher demand. I've never grown them myself but a few of my friends have a nice supplemental income.

I'm going to say the same thing I tell my daughter every time she gets stuck in a loop and convinces herself there is no solution. Stop being so unreasonable! Cleary the reality you exist in has failed you. So just fuck it. If doing things one way cannot work then do them another. Practice giving zero fucks for a while. Lower your expectations or raise your productivity. Seriously none of it matters that much. You could take off and live in the forest or take out more loans and become a permanent student. Just pick a new pattern and get on with it. I promise it's not that big of deal. I spent most of my life fucking off. I put all my energy into the only industry that is experiencing the opposite of inflation. I'm currently working at a dive bar for bullshit pay and driving a truck filled with legal weed instead of working for myself (mostly). I'm taking weed to dispensaries that cost less per pound than an ounce cost a few years ago. You know what I have learned. None of it fucking matters. It's all new and I do not earn a fraction of what I used to and I don't have time or disposable income to travel. And surprise. I really is not that bad. I hope everything works out. It's ok to quit giving a fuck and let yourself be free from the stress. Seriously.

Don't a shit ton of people die in the red and who've been in the red most of their lives? Trump's been in hugely big debt all of his adult life so he could fund his lifestyle and live his fantasy. He's likely going to die in debt. Say what you will about the rat fuck, I guarantee he's never considered suicide as a solution to his debt problems for even a second. He obviously doesn't give a fuck. They don't jail debtors anymore and we're lucky enough to have been born at a point in time where we don't have to stress out about getting eaten and what we'll have to kill for our next meal. Be thankful that first world middle class white guys aren't poor. We just go through times when we can't afford everything we want (the key is to want less or nothing), or at worse, go broke from time to time before figuring out how to rebound back.
Late 20's I bailed on credit card debt originating from my stupid young adult days. I was stressing out about how to pay what looked like a perpetual monthly bill with a never shrinking principle. Suicide never crossed my mind, but it felt like my only option was to be a slave to my creditor until the day I died. When I made the decision to default, I figured the highly profitable and financially better-than-stable credit card company had made enough from me over the years with their high interest rates. It suddenly seemed immoral on my part to keep paying them. The financial dept. would just add me to the many others who default and use the tax laws written in their favor to write it off as bad debt. It was an easy choice between feeling I could gain my life back or continue being a slave with the slave mentality and everything else that comes with it. Never looked back, nobody ever contacted me or tracked me down. I knew I'd have to wait 7 years to reestablish any kind of credit which went by faster than expected. Life went on. With far less angst and stress than before, but with an ever changing set of new problems challenges.
Give zero (or at least far less) fucks. Prioritize what it is you do give fucks about. Don't let others tell you you need to do this or own that in order to be "normal," successful, or even happy, esp. when you can tell that those people are themselves not fundamentally happy and likely feel trapped by their own life decisions. Prioritize based on what makes you happy and stress free. It don't mean things become easy, but they do become easier once one stops giving so much of a fuck.
Diamond Dave got what Frank was signin' about:
Kinda related to what Taco was talkin' 'bout. Miles was wise. "Every now and then, say 'What the fuck.' What the fuck gives you freedom. Freedom brings opportunity. Opportunity makes your future."

What has me excited about this rapidly approaching Election Day? I made some weed tincture back in August, looked at the calendar, and decided Election Day would be a good day to try it out before letting it steep another month or so.
