Can hang the hat on local election, NY passed prop 1, so women don't get completely F'd in our state Order 66 eminent Don't get mad at me, I voted for the meteor It was actually Wu tang and Grateful Dead So basically a meteor of awesomeness So the right has said that this proposition would damage girls sports... What is your take? I'm not knowledgeable enough to know one way or another... But I'm not sold on allowing trans women to play women's sports... I'm ok with anyone being who they are... But it just doesn't seem fair. There's a women's volleyball player in college that is trans and she jumps higher and hits harder than anyone else out there. Opponents are forfeiting rather than playing her team. Would it be more fair to have men's sports, women's sports and then a third category? |

I don't know the right answer on that Ferd, but I do know that in a very complex world full of very shitty things, that is one thing I don't give a single fuck about. I'm sure it's a huge issue for the 10 girls on the eight volleyball teams in the Mountain West conference or wherever they are, but there are a lot more people about to get fucked a lot harder than volleyball players.

I respect that position. And it's fine for it not to be a big issue for you but it was a ballot proposition in NY and I'm interested in talking about it if anyone else is.
I agree that there are far more important things to work about given the current state of affairs... But it's possible to worry about them all

I just think it's gross that it has become a national issue that people who have no skin in the game are wringing their hands about. My mom, who is virulently opposed to Trump, mentioned it right away once when we started talking about politics. I asked her how in any single way that one girl affected her and she realized that it didn't. The fact that a single thing like that could sway someone's vote is beyond me and it felt like every other commercial during election season was about this issue. |

I would rather see them allowed to play mens sports dressed as a women that compete against women. In most cases it is clearly not fair. A third league where gender is not an issue would be fine too.
Mostly it is an issue I am not concerned with.

Probably just insecurities but it's almost as if they think it is contagious. |

But then the clip above, if it's that blatant and in so.e cases it seems to be, then I'm kind of...well is that fair to the standards or even definition of competition
All that said , how would you feel if woman did the same to men? If they are able to become stronger or more athletic and take it to men's sport?
I feel in most cases it's a double standard thing...woman "can't" be sluts but men "love" sluts

One time while on a bunch of k, I had just clean shaved which I rarely do and when I looked in the mirror I saw a woman. It was a bit of a weird moment. Then I did some more k. The next day I looked and I was not a woman.

This. That clip of Harris touting Trans treatments for prisoners was brutal and repeated countless times. No doubt it had an impact on the less informed.

It sounds like the opposition has a real issue with trans folks in sports, which simply isn't going to be much of an issue at the younger level because access to gender affirming care is more difficult than ever to get. It gets much more complicated at levels where big money is involved but even then it's SO rare. Putting transgender folks into the state constitution as a protected class is necessary given the amount of hate crime going on. The sky aint falling, we need to have compassion for folks. Im happy youre asking about it. |
