I find the comments on this page kind of baffling after the reading through the last several pages. You were so angry that you didn't get what you wanted that you exclaimed why should you vote for Democrats, they didn't do shit for me. You were seemingly willing to overlook the many good things they did for people who weren't you. Can you not understand that some people do have legitimate reasons to vote for Republicans whether it be financial, their stance on abortion or something even smaller but more personal? If someone is very religious and believes with all of their heart that abortion is terrible under all circumstances, and they vote accordingly, does it make them racist because the party that aligns with that one specific view happens to be the one that Trump is leading? Racist or ghouls, yeah. If you're that anti-abortion, you're a fucking monster in my book. Who cares if a girl bleeds out and dies as long as she doesn't get an abortion is pretty fucked mindset to have. Yall are basically right wingers, shit I didn't say I have this view, I said others have it. As long as we have established that only you are the arbiter of what can be important to other people. Basically, people should only care about student loan forgiveness and abortion care. |

The only way to fix that problem is inform people and they simply don't want that. If you're not going to respond to these people and constantly forgive all the shit they pull then how are you any better than them? How are you making things better if you just stand by while they do the same, ultimately hateful thing over and over again? That's sounds like going backwards to me. Problem is some of us have the same problem and that logic works both ways. My born again and Trump fan mom who viewed nearly everything through evangelical goggles thought the only way to fix the problem of my not agreeing with her Republican politics and more importantly (to her) my not being interested in "salvation" through the jesus was to continuously "inform" me over decades without ever respecting my wishes when I clearly said "I'm good on all that and not interested, though have no issues at all with whatever you decide to believe or not believe, how's cousin so-and-so?"/"I simply don't want that." The intentions on her part were good, but there comes a time where you have to judge someone on their actions instead, and in my case the respect only flowed one way. I'd try to keep conversations off those topics for as long as possible and got the point where I'd just abruptly end the call/video chat when she'd bring that stuff up. I'm at the point where I think what might work best (depending on one's circumstances) and is certainly the most respectful is for people to do what people used to do - not talk about religion or politics in social situations. Don't keep trying to shove your shit down my throat or try to "own" me and I won't preach or try to inform you either. Easier said than done. I'd rather have a conversation where I try to inform someone about any of a range of topics with a Republican stranger than with Republicans in my family. Better some stranger try to inform them than me. I'd rather subtly disengage to a degree that makes me feel more comfortable than dramatically confront, fight, and call people ghouls. MMV. I know people who are only happy when they're angry and have "enemies" to fight with. |

Like I said, Im emotionally done with these folks. I don't care what happens to them anymore seeing as they only want bad things for minorities and the less privileged. It's pretty unforgivable behavior in my opinion.
