Back in 2006 when the Bears went to the Super Bowl the whole area was stoked. Orange and blue everything. Then they lost and it was like overnight everything disappeared and no one talked about it except for wanting to kill Rex Grossman.
The shop I worked at was in Lake Forest where the bears training facilities are and we had a lot of ritzy customers.
One day, this lady walks in diamonds all over and pays with an American Express black. I look at the card, and the last name is Grossman. I look up at her and the fear in her eyes was undeniable almost pleading with me. Please don’t say anything. Of course I didn’t because that’s crazy but I can only imagine the kind of shit she had to deal with.
Just like Steve Bartman. They pretty much ran him out of town. I think he’s still getting threats.
