Okay, so Christmas is right here. Basically and my son needs a A good razor. Or clippers, he's got a wicked unibrow and some peach fuzz. Going on. any recommendations What's best use for first time shaving? Not trying to spend an arm in a leg on a razor but I want to get him something that's rechargeable that he can use and shave different areas with.

I never found an electric razor that gave me a shave I was ok with. I always preferred a razor and shaving cream. On that front, get a decent razor. Harry's makes decent razors and they are much cheaper than Gillette or any of the other big manufacturers and you can get them at Target. Do not let him shave with the plastic disposable razors, they are a disaster.

I got tired of shaving so I let my beard grow out and bought a trimmer to keep it in check and keep the neck beard from getting out of control. Maybe once a week I'll use a razor on the neck to get that perfectly close shave, but it's some brand you can only get here. I did some research before buying the trimmer and the Phillips brand was well reviewed and decently priced. I got a model specifically for beard trimming, but they also have all-in-one products that'll keep you groomed from head to toe. Like hokie, I never had luck with electric razors, but that was decades ago and for all I know they've gotten better. There's a lot more options available now than there was then. When I was shopping for a trimmer I came across several websites and YouTube channels by dudes who do reviews.
One thing to know about disposable razors is that they sell the razor at cost and make their profits on the blade replacements, so work backwards and see how much replacement blades cost when looking at razor brands and models. There's also straight razors like you see in a barber shop. I tried one thinking it was a good way to get a close shave without having to buy replacement blades but it didn't work for me. Don't know if it was quality of blade (I'd sharpen it), bad technique, or what, but I went back to disposables.

I think I use Dollar Shave Club stuff, but Harry's sounds to be a good option too. I dig the shave butter better than cream. I think a simple Wahl electric with a few guard options and a good razor kit with replacement blades would be a good start as he decides wat works best for his grooming and scaping needs.

I don't use a razor much but Harry's is good when I do. I just use a trimmer most of the time and go zero guard if I'm taking it all down. Electric shavers are trash.

I use a cheap Remington to trim the beard. I might upgrade to a manscaped when it dies.

Electric razor > shaving cream
Ifk if it works for everybody but changing to electric was amazing for me. It's so much less work. It took my face a bit to get use to it but I'll never look back

What Hokie said…..I like to use an electric to get things trimmed down to a manageable shave with a razor. For manscaping, I use a Kubota Bush Hog.
