Got to my hotel in Peoria and apparently the not 3rd shift staff checked someone else in on my reservation.
Not sure how that works.
Had too book another night for tonight so I can talk with the manager tomorrow…yay…
Also seems like the festival is just gonna take the money and run on the Moe. absence. No additions or substitutions.

No additions or substitutions. I don't think Moe. is much of a draw anymore (Umphrey's either for that matter) for that festival. While i'm sure many of the OGs are bummed 95% of the crowd wasn't going for them anyways. Also kind of hard to book an act on that level last minute to replace them and changing around different bands set times so last minute could be risky.

I figure some folks already oniste will either have extended sets or some kind of impromptu set of various artists.

Moe. was supposed to play tonight and they just pushed back all the set times instead of replacing their set *shrugg*

id also argue these festivals are not doing great financially right now - even tho that’s a bummer to people going - I doubt the return value on booking another act would be worth it for them

Yeah. Fests seem sort of falling out of favor. I know they are not high priority for me but not sure what the deal is. I just prefer one off shows and doing other things like hiking, etc while not seeing music. I'd hate for fest to not be available anymore and maybe younger folks are still stoked for fests geared more toward thier tastes but it seems like tons of fests are failing.

10 years ago, basically this weekend, the wife and I first got to know each other, at Scamp. We attended the fest 3 years together and it holds a special place in our hearts, but at this point in our lives, if we get a long weekend away from the kids there are other things we probably would rather do than go camping at a festival. I know we will go to one together down the road but at this time we'd rather spend our time doing other things. As far as the festival scene as a whole, it is an oversaturated and overpriced market and with hundreds and hundreds of these festivals to choose from, from basically April to November, it's hard to sustain any sort of success unless your lineup really outdoes itself year after year. I think Scamp rebranded for 2 reasons. The first being that they wanted to step away from the Umphrey's/Moe. festival layout and branch out to try and become a much bigger festival rather than having 2 bands, whose popularity is dwindling, be to 2 of the main headliners. I believe both bands will announce that next year will be their last years being regular acts at Solshine fest. I also believe that Summercamp has struggled financially since before the Pandemic and because the Goldbergs have so much financial backing they were able to stay afloat. The plan is to become more of a festival like Electic Forests where electronic music is the focus with various mainstream acts mixed in. I think within the next 5 years Sol festival will be completely different than what we remember Scamp being or it won't exist at all

id also argue these festivals are not doing great financially right now - even tho that’s a bummer to people going - I doubt the return value on booking another act would be worth it for them festy market definitely has gotten oversaturated. combined with people having less disposable income, and people in general not being as into the jam scene as when i was younger, makes it tough for these fests.

Eff. And all that pain explodes into shrapnel hitting anyone close to him. It sucks so bad. I wish we had more effective ways to treat mental illness.
