That reminded me of this old French guy I met once who through body language let it be known that he would lower his standards to communicate with us in English because what he had to say was so important, and in this outrageous, almost comical, Peter Sellers Inspector Clouseau accent spit out as if he'd just been greatly offended "I do not eat industrial food!" when someone in my group offered to share with him some of whatever he was eating
Another French person I met in Peru went off for a few minutes on butter, eggs, milk, etc. 'I do not know why they call this butter. This is not butter," went on to explain why, and we had an interesting (and polite) conversation about food, eating, where we get our ingredients and what they're made of, etc. Europeans can be really intense when it comes to food..... goddess love 'em. Considering how much time we spend preparing and eating food, "you are what you eat," it kinda makes sense.

My nephew just popped over. He's at that age where he's starting to use cologne or some spray on stuff but hasn't figured out yet that a little goes a long way, so you can be at the back of the house and know when he enters without ever hearing his voice and then 15 minutes later after he's left as if he's still here. His dad goes just as heavy so I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't grow out of it.

I just had some stupid good salami from Messina. It's the skinny log kind you cut at an angle. So buttery you'd swear there was movie theater popcorn in it. The casing was labeled inedible so i peeled it back like kraft baloney and slammed it. 8 out of 5 stars would take a bite out of the side and eat the casing if i didn't have fingernails or utensils.

Hard boil, peel and place on a grate over a pan of ice on the smoker.

So my dads 70th birthday was earlier this month. My parents celebrated by going to Japan. This weekend my dad is having an all out party to bring in the big 7-0. They are having a ton of out of town guests come from all over the country. On Thursday they are having some chef come over to grill various Kabobs. Friday they are renting out a small Ukranian restaurant where there will be live entertainment and loads of food. Saturday the festivities conclude with brunch, as is tradition. Also, as is Ukranian tradition, my body will be 70% vodka by the time the weekend is over.
