No surprise that if you spend enough time in Chicago you'll catch a homeless crackhead or 2 jerking it. There are a few homeless camps close to where I work. The Neighborhood i work in was one of the ones that got the "busloads" of immigrants. This area is 98% Latino so it makes sense. We donated a lot of clothes to a couple of shelters in the winter. Chicago has a ton fo organizations that try to get these people food and clothes and a place to live but because of the influx of immigrants in the last year, they are just about depleted on resources. It's a sad state of affairs.

Went to the junkyard today with my mechanic and the car we had to get to was blocked in so they busted out the forklift. Keep in mind it's cold and wet because it's overcast and rainy, and they hoist the last car, well up pops a dog sleeping in the front seat. Pupper was a good 12 feet in the air just looking around like what the heck.

I'm going to cast my vote for Crimson as band from the 60/70's that best transitioned into the 80's. Better than The Stones, The Who, The Dead, Dylan, Van Morrison, Clapton, Floyd, etc. Probably because they didn't (try to) sound anything like they did in the previous two decades so their sound and material was fresh instead of them just trying to sound like themselves with 80's sounding instruments and production values. I think that can be argued and I also think it depends on what you're looking to get out of the musical experience. I love Discipline, and I love Adrian Belew but comparing KC's early work to their later work is apples and oranges considering the musicians Fripp was playing with is completely different. While bands like, Floyd, the Stones, The Who, the Dead, etc, were losing some of members, the core guys were still there and the music they made from the 60's and 70's was the reason people were going out to see them, not necessarily because of newer material. I think it's almost an apples to orange comparison because KC was trying to reinvent themselves at that time, while all these others bands may have been trying to adjust to the era but continue with that classic sound that their fanbases grew to love. KC was always considered more of a concept than an ongoing band. In 1980 the band was called Discipline and Fripp reluctantly agreed to changing it to KC because of (I believe) record company pressure. While all the other bands that started in the 60's (Apples) that had survived to the 80's were to varying degrees trying to stay relevant, they all were still Apples. KC/(Fripp) was willing to become an Orange; or a Bicycle. Being a major, commercially succesfull act can be limiting. The Stones have to play 'Satisfaction' and other big hits at every show, Keith and (esp.) Mick had to maintain their rock star images and stage act. Fripp and KC weren't limited by that since they had no hits, there was no expectations that they act like rock stars; there were no real expectations on them of any kind. So they could more easily and authentically embrace certain aspects of "New Wave" music that Fripp and Belew participated in during the late 70's, or bring in gamelan influences while the "dinosaur" bands (ironic how all those bands/musicians were considered "old" in 1980 while still in their 30's - rock was still that young) were still firmly rooted in the past influences even if they were using contemporary 80's sounds to try and remain relevant. Compared to their contemporaries, KC is the band I'll listen to without strongly favoring their early stuff. The Stones last real hit was 'Start Me Up' which I wouldn't include in a Top 20 songs list. If I wanna listed to the Stones it's 60/70's. Same with The Who, Floyd, etc. I'm just as fond of 80's KC as I am their material through 'Red.' I'm not saying one doesn't exist, but I can't think of another band/performer where I can say I'm just as fond of their 80's material as I am of their 60/70's output. Or even if was, I can't think of a band who's 80's material is just as artistically vital as their 60/70's material. I know plenty of people who love 80's Dead, but not to the point where they'd listen to that era and never the earlier stuff they based their entire career on. I could see people liking 80's KC but not at all earlier KC. What other bands/musicians that transitioned from the 60/70's into the 80's do you think did it with as much artistic success as Fripp/KC? I'm not considering bands who released debut albums in the late 70's like Talking Heads and started too close to the 80's to really have to adjust to them - just 60's bands that were able to survive (and thrive) in the 70's and made it to the 80's. And I'm just shooting the shit like I would with friends in high school when we'd talk music. I'm not married to or won't die on the hill of my completely subjective opinion.

Just the audacity of the location choice is what gets me. There is literally an abandoned drive thru restaurant across the street, or railroad tracks, or various alleys Guess when the mood strikes, the mood strikes. Iโm also curious what the rest of the group was doing because they seemed pretty disinterested and/or oblivious. Kinkshaming the Unsheltered sounds like a good name for this documentary
