Peter Edward Rose. I've never known the full name of any other ball player. Living in Cincinnati I guess I didnt have a choice. He was royalty here in town. West side blue collar kid. Love hearing all the stories and photos of people I know that knew him or his family. Been a sad day. My stomach churned last night when my son told me the news. I believe anybody who loved the game of baseball loved Pete Rose for one thing or another.
RIP Charlie Hustle.

Favorite player of all time, although Mattingly was whose batting style I loved to emulate. I was fortunate to get an autograph from Pete (paid for an autograph) in a Cooperstown memorabilia shop when I went up for the Ripken/Gwynn induction. He was exactly as I would have expected….a bit surly, a bit welcoming and when I said to him I look forward to coming up here for his induction, he looked at me like yeah, I am sure that will be happening. R.I.P. Pete.
