He pissed me off on more than one occasion, but he was Phil.
Those P&F runs in the early aughts are some of my fondest memories of being on ter.
RIP Phil.

The first time I ever ate LSD was at a Phil show. Lots of shrooms before that though.
I always enjoyed Phil shows more than ratdog. Poor Bobby.

You can say 84's a good run on any terms, but ... yeah, can't help feeling sadness.
Go onto his 'Tube channel and look up the "Terrapin Clubhouse" sessions he'd been recording these last few months: sweet jams with a revolving cast of characters. I'd been digging and looking forward to each new one in the series - and then they stopped about a month ago. Did wonder at some point, "Hope he's doing okay ..." but had no reason to think it other than the fact he was 84.
Jammed right 'til the end.

I needed to pick up some new glasses, left work early, got glasses, in neighborhood of a townie bar I like. Stopped in for a beverage in the 45 minutes I had to kill…..
Read this thread.
The Parrot and the Stone - the head shop I worked in when I found out Jerry died.
West End Pub - dive bar I was in when I found Phil moved on to the next plane

Other than “this sucks” when I heard the news, the next thought was that grocery store story about the Baser and Phil. Cracks me up everytime thinking about…..RIP Phil. Find some drummerless jams to make with Pigpen, Keith, Brent, Vince, and Jerry. ✌️
