Finished No County for Old Men. Great book. Plan to watch the movie for the first time this weekend. About to read a book called Ghosts Among Us about afterlife by this medium fella, James Van Praagh, think he has a TV show or something. Should be interesting.

This book has coagulated my thoughts and ideas about being proud of where I come from but also ashamed of its history in a much more thoughtful and eloquent way than I ever imagined. A must read for anyone from dirty Dixie who grapples with "the duality of the Southern thing".

A must read for anyone from dirty Dixie who grapples with "the duality of the Southern thing".Β There was this point several years ago, pre-obama, when I started wondering where the band stood on a lot of different issues. I found an interview of Patterson that answered my questions and I felt pretty good about his take. It also showed me that, as a yankee, I have no idea about a lot of things. I'd love to check this one out.

I can send something your way. A Tom Robbins novel, perhaps?
