Three weeks later and I've finished BCS and read through this thread.
Overall I liked the show. I don't watch much tv so I didn't mind the slow burn pace, though I could see how it might annoy others. Like our very own Saul Goodman mentioned, some of that Mike procedural stuff was a bit much, but I guess if you're into that kind of detail explanation it was worth it for the payoff.
Few random things I liked. I liked that they made Kim a smoker and Jimmy an occasional sharer. Don't know why. Maybe because you don't see shows written much where a main character is a smoker. I liked the nods to BB; such as scene where Viktor (with a K) and Giselle scam KenWins. Liked how they wrote that guy - always talking, always bragging, completely over the top, but done in a way that the overwriting is more enjoyable than distracting or annoying.
Also really enjoyed the black and white flash forwards. Looking forward to season six as much to see what happens there as with what happens back in ABQ. Lot of built up tension there. Curious if they'll be some sort of resolution with that whole future Gene story and if it'll be told in the usual first episode, first scene slot.
Quetion for Jambase Saul Goodman. Jimmy bounced from public defender work to elderly law and then to criminal law - all fairly easily and seamlessly. Could it actually work like that? I'd think an attorney would have to immerse themselves in study and case law to change their speciality - esp. from something more contracts based like doing wills for older people, to litigation. Lalo's up on some serious charges yet he goes with Jimmy. I guess he just needed someone skilled enough to get him out and loose enough to do his bidding and pick up his bail money. Wasn't really looking for any legal representation past that. But still curious how true that whole aspect of the show is.
Mother in law started watching and now everyone is onto S1 of Breaking Bad. This'll be my third viewing.
