I don't think it's awesome, and how the band justifies their greed and laziness has no bearing on.my opinion. They're a little young to channel their inner Rolling Stones, but if u lap it up, u lap it up I guess It will be okay dumb. People like to have fun. It's okay to like things.

Headlines about snowflakes m.washingtontimes.com/I recall Tool playing like the night after 9/11 and the crowd was chanting "USA! USA!" and Maynard asked them to knock it off and some fans left the show offended or something weird.

Shows open contempt for people who made him a zillionare.
They fork over more cash...he may be onto something about his demographic.

I am both interested in Maynard's creative output, and generally put off by his personality to the point I wouldn't pay a dime for what he's selling. Just how I feel about him

I met Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor at of all places a Grateful Dead tribute band show called Xtra Ticket. The year was 1999. Cool and humble dudes. Before I arrived my roommate told Danny that "my roommate thinks you are the greatest living drummer" and I was told that Danny got genuinely super excited to hear that comment. They only played one show that year, the first Coachella.
In 2002 I went to the NAMM show and saw Danny Carey there. He would only sign autographs in purple but didn't have his own purple marker. Fans had to have their own. Some people were pissed at him but obviously he is a prankster.
I never met Maynard and glad I haven't because I'd probably like his music less if I did. A friend doing sound approached him before a gig and began complimenting him and Maynard interrupted him and said "sorry to interrupt you but I don't talk to roadies". My friend hasn't listened to anything from him since then.
Adam Jones is the real genius behind Tool. Never met him but heard he's cool as fuck.

I remember an interview where Adam Jones said his primary influence was dmt and ketamine..
The sound also changed for the spacier when Chancellor joined the band..
And I think Danny Carey should get some recognition for his role in the band..
I'd be interested in those guys opinions of Maynard

Although Carey has not officially aligned himself with any particular school of philosophy or religion, he has projected a deep interest in and understanding for the magickal arts – among them various occult teachings. Enochian symbols, geometric designs, and special symbolic percussive devices are featured on and in his drum kit. He is also a collector of First Edition Aleister Crowley books as well as books by one of Crowley's more innovative students, Kenneth Grant.
Geometric designs Edit Carey has laid claim to various drumming techniques that use sacred geometric figures such as the unicursal hexagram. The final product is very recognizable, fluent drumming, although to him it is much more: the official Tool website claims that Danny uses drumming as a ritual similar to occult rituals,[2] with purposes varying from spiritual exploration to "a gateway [which] summoned a daemon he has contained...that has been delivering short parables similar to passages within The Book of Lies". Another geometric reference from the website was the inclusion of Nothing in This Book Is True... by Bob Frissell[3] on the band's recommended reading list, a book that deals with sacred geometry and the evolution of human consciousness.
