It's insane that anyone would stick up for this shit head. I hope people stop talking about Ashton like he's "one of the good ones" now.

Another thing... if Ashton didn't marry Mila he could be in the same boat! For real

Things are looking rough for Ashton, definitely stepped into shit writing that letter to the Judge. He must have thought that shit was sealed, his PR people have been working to "fix things" but it's not working.

I do not condone DM's actions, he can burn in hell and burn in prison for all I care. I also do not care enough to do a deep dive on this and find out what Mila and Ashton are getting at, BUT (and I'm just asking the question) Are they coming to DM's side because they personally know him and they know that, although, he did some despicable things and forced himself on girls, that he has turned a new leaf and changed, has felt remorseful and tried to make amends for the terrible thing he has done. Again, I am not condoning his actions or the fact that they wrote these letters, but people are capable of change, we have all done stupid things in our lives and maybe he has been trying to ask for forgiveness for those things which is why they are rushing to his side.
Again, i do not know this full story and i certainly don't know Ashton and Mila or DM but I do know everyone is capable of change and maybe that's why they wrote those letters, because they saw change

I don't recall reading anything in their support letters saying anything about their seeing change in DM or that he expressed any remorse or asked for any forgiveness. Not saying DM didn't do any of those things (how would I know?), just that the Kutcher/Kunis support letters to the judge didn't mention anything about them.

Working HR in the inner city you deal with a lot of people that have been incarcerated. We believe in giving people a 2nd or even 3rd chance here. Now we will not hire racists/pedos or murderers, but, in the interview process, if we feel someone is trying to turn their life around we will give them a chance.
I really don't want to come off like i'm supporting anyone's actions, all i'm wondering is why Ashton and Mila came to his defense and, i would make the assumption they're doing it because they feel he is on a journey to change his ways. That doesn't make it right nor does it mean he shouldn't be incarcerated. Fuck him!

^^ I haven't followed this or read any of the statements, but my guess is they thought it would help a buddy out and (as Venk said) it wouldn't become public. I am sure DM's defense attorneys told him to ask a few of his famous friends to write letters in attempt to lessen the judge's sentence.

This part stuck out to me:
In his July letter, Kutcher described Masterson as a “role model” and someone who has had “nothing but a positive influence” on him. He later added that the actor is an “extraordinarily honest and an intentional human being” and “a person that is consistently there for you when you need him.”
Who describes someone in a reference letter as being "an intentional human being?" $cientologists. Early training which has them screaming at ashtrays and other exercises they do are part of their whole communication thing. You are trained to clearly express your intentions so that the other person (or an ashtray) understands. More importantly (for $cientology) it is part of their brain washing process. Bunch of weird $cientology shit anyone can find out about online if they want to waste their time (like I did in the past), but I thought it really strange that Kutcher would describe DM like that, and even more surprised thinking the judge or anyone else would find that to be a positive thing - 'Oh, Masterson is an intentional human being? Well fuck, they should commute his sentence or at least knock 25 years off.'
The AK/MK apology didn't impress me. Looked like they were reading off cue cards their PR team wrote for them. 'We're sorry we said that shit because it made us look really bad and we don't want people to think badly of us because we support of a rapist just because he's our friend or to negatively affect our careers, so you guys forgive and we can forget all about it and move on - cool?'

I am sure DM's defense attorneys told him to ask a few of his famous friends to write letters in attempt to lessen the judge's sentence. That's what makes the most sense to me. They're all Hollywood insiders who became famous when they were teenagers. I doubt they have much experience with any world but Hollywood so they're not thinking in any other terms. Help out a buddy, only the judge will see it - no harm. Obviously they didn't run it by their PR team or anyone else first. At least they were smart enough to issue an apology right quick - or smart enough to listen to their management. I don't follow either of their careers, but I'll bet this blows over once the next Hollywood 'scandal' comes along.

I follow Mila Kunis's career only because she's a Ukranian Jew from Kiev, where my whole family is from. She's also insanely hot. But if this was just a PR thing then i agree it is insanely fucked up.

Other cast members from that 70s show sent support (Kurtwood Smith and Debrah Jo Rupp) so it was probably an organized effort from the members of that cast that hung out and were close. That stuff being public record is pretty great. It's a more recent case of the Roman Polanski support letters (those are so frustrating, way too many people who should know better are on that list too)
Topher Grace notably didn't and his wife has been posting stuff on Instagram about supporting victims. He comes out looking great and all the stories from when that show was popular about him being a "loner"/not hanging out with the rest of the cast make way more sense now. He seems to be a pretty decent dude/big nerd who kept to himself and got shit in the press for it.

Lots of pictures of the cast at the celebrity centre in LA are coming out now too. It's crazy to see the ripple effect of the Harvey Weinstein stuff now hitting Scientology. LAPD taking Scientology money and covering up sex crimes for years basically now forces LA prosecuters/judges to go very hard with charges/sentencing.

An intentional human being... so he meant to rape. Got it.

Early Scientology training involves having their new members supposedly be able to communicate their intent clearly. Sounds benign, but it's all about making the n00bs more subjectable to brainwashing and becoming an unquestioning member of the group. (Hubbard studied and wrote about Chinese/N. Korean/Russian/US military brainwashing techniques). Interesting (to me at least) to see Kutcher reference intention. Masterson and Laura Prepon (she's no longer in Scientology) must have really pushed it on the cast/crew if Kutcher is spouting the terminology, probably without even consciously realizing that he is. Getting celebrities and other influencers to join has always been a major goal of Scientology. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Training_routines_(Scientology)#:~:text=The%20church%20describes%20them%20as,body%20experience%20known%20as%20exteriorization. The training routines (TR) are training exercises or drills used in the Church of Scientology as well as affiliated programs Narconon, Criminon and WISE. The church describes them as a way of learning to communicate effectively and to control situations. Some critics and former Scientologists claim the training routines have a strong hypnotic effect, causing hallucinations and an out-of-body experience known as exteriorization.
TR-8: Tone 40 on an Object
The student repeatedly commands an ashtray to stand up and sit down, acknowledging each action. Although the student holds the ashtray throughout the exercise, the goal is to cause the ashtray to move purely by tone 40 intention.
TR-9: Tone 40 on a Person
As in TR-6, the student moves the coach around a room with verbal commands. The coach resists, and the student must use a combination of smooth physical control and unspoken intention to make the coach obey. The routine continues until the student can maintain exact intention despite resistance.

It’s not like he got a dui. He drugged and raped multiple women. At a certain point you just need to let go of the person you thought you knew and cut ties with the person they actually are.
