It was a children's bowling league and industry night at the restaurant.
You know a lot of kids and waitresses that carry guns?

As usual, these disgusting excuses for humans target the most vulnerable populations

Seems like he's an Ex-Vet who snapped and police didn't really do much to help despite warnings from family.
This one is safely on easy access to guns despite clear mental illness...

People are gonna people
I think i've reached the "same as it ever was" stage of all of this.
Obviously a tragedy and I feel for the victims but until the bigger, mental health, issue is taken care of, none of this will stop.

It is tough to avoid being desensitized to this stuff and sort of brushing it off but it isn't any less catastrophic as any incident in the long list of mass shootings. Its hard to react though when we are already convinced that absolutely nothing will ever be done to strengthen the gun purchasing and tracking process and procedures in a way that can measurably limit the frequency of these events.

Most places would have some system in place that would remove guns from him or keep him under a psych watch.
His story sounds an awful lot like the dude who killed Chris Kyle. Struggling ex-vet with CLEAR mental illness but no real fix for it. The military makes billions but the VA's get none of it.
Shitty country.

Most places would have some system in place that would remove guns from him or keep him under a psych watch. those are the red flag laws. they aren't prefect by any means but certainly have prevented things like this from happening in other places. and occasionally someone who is just an asshole, but not mentally ill, looses their guns for a few days. which is why the gun lobbyists fight them so hard.

Every time there's a local shooting, every local dumbshit feels the NEED to comment "I guess the SAFE act doesn't work" as if there's ever been any federal action and people can't easily smuggle guns. The kinds of people of don't care about a tragedy unless they can personally connect to it, scum.

Obviously a tragedy and I feel for the victims but until the bigger, mental health, issue is taken care of, none of this will stop. I'm not saying that the overwhelming majority of the people who do these mass shootings don't have mental issues, but if this was a mental health issue then every country in the world would have US levels (per capita) of these types of shootings since mental illness isn't restricted to the US. Same with gun ownership. Lot of gun owners in Canada and other countries, they just don't go around shooting each other with them.

Just thought people in a Maine community like that someone would be packing. I'm not sure or know anything about Maine's state law's about conceal carry.

Pretty liberal in a conservative kind of way

This happened about 30 minutes from where my ex lived. It's pretty rural and usually votes conservative. Zee isn't wrong to think folks in that area are carrying.
Portland is about as liberal as Maine gets.

The establishments themselves might have a say whether a person can bring a gun in there, concealed or not…..or I have no idea what I am talking about. Anyways, for fuck’s sake, stop the production of that AR-15. No, don’t go rounding up the ones already out there, but at the least, just cease making that gun.

This yes, for real, but ghost guns make a lot of this really hard but that is no reason to do nothing
