Ever buy from Fuzz Audio? I ordered Zenith branded GE 12at7. Why even call it a Zenith branded tube if you are going to put a disclaimer that it might be a diffdrent tube? Lame. I got it back out of the box, which is original and in excellent condition, and took a closer look. It was advertised as a halo getter and this one is squre. It was also listed as 95% print/label and this one is not anywhere near that. Oh well. He wants to send me a different one and is being cool, I guess, but it is annoying. After I told him I was just playing around with rolling tubes in the micro terror he also said the gain tested really high on the tube he sent. I want to be like, you mean 60, right? 60 rather than the normal 100 that the micro comes with, the 12ax7? Nans. There was a reason I had never tried any of his gear. Should have trusted my gut. I've never left poor feedback. I've only had one issue when the "brand new" OCDP snare drum came in a Ludwig box, had clearly been played, was not one of the made in usa as listed, and was not the drum that had been pictured. I just let it go and didn't even message that guy. That drum is still in the box... I'll likely not leave feedback on this one either.

The gain reading on a tester are not the same as a the comparative gain percentage between different 12A*7 tubes. Can you send me a link to the listing or copy the text about the gain and test? Each test unit can have its own gain scale. I hope that unit your dad had turns up!

He mentioned the gain in the message this morning. I woke up in a shitty mood, so when I opened the box I was pissed.

This is what he said. The tube could be awesome. It isn't a big deal.
"The GE tube we sent should be great for the Micro terror. It’s test scores are reason I sent it over the Zenith tube right next to it. That one is very high gain!"

That's definitely misleading to put all those results unless for some reason they all have the same test numbers, which would be super unusual. You could ask him what the individual reading is for this specific tube and see what he says.

I'm more inclined to just let it go and stick with the other sellers that I have confidence in.

I will say that out of the 5 tubes from four different sellers I received this week, his was the best packing by far.

I could be shitty. He clearly lists it as a halo getter and he sent a squre getter.

Did you already ask that stuff? My bad!

No. My exchange was brief. I didn't respond to any of his last 4 messages because it felt kind of like what he would say to anyone who called him out.

I misspoke. Upon closer inspection it is an angled D getter.

I don't really know what's going on inside these little glass vacuums, but I find them to be sort of beautiful. When you open up an original box it feels like a time capsule. The nostalgia is palpable. These things used to run the world and now they mostly collect dust as it's only a handful of nerdy audiophiles that seek them out.

Okay. I'm not so concerned about the micro terror. Does it even have filter capacitors since the power stage is solid state? And as long as I'm not touching the pins on the tube it wouldn't matter anyway. Plus, none of the electronics are exposed to access the preamp tube on the micro. Am I thinking correctly? I know enough about electricity that I don't mess with it.

It's fine. It doesn't have a power tube section with large filter caps that store high voltage. Pins on preamp are a minimal risk.
