My VSN slow hand showed up today, the plan is to run it through my monotron delay and get dubbed the fuck out.

Ooh ooh I fixed my 1950s RCA studios amp from NYC today. The capacitor that affects the bass control was too large and making it flubby on the low end, and I think it might have been overloading the transformer a bit when you crank it. It sounds good now but I'm going to wait until tomorrow to really crank it up and double check because it's late. I changed it from .01uF to .0047uF. One component, significant change in sound.

The amp fuggin smokes. I cranked it up today. I might even go lower on the bass cap value because it's a cut control so it would remove more when its maxed out. You can still boost the bass as much as you want

This thing weighs like 40 lbs... Redundant, but yeah. All the cables store in it nicely and it fits in the hope chest when not in use.

After building the board I assumed that building a speaker cabinet was going to be a breeze. So, I did some figuring and measuring and cut the four sides. The pine is slightly warped, though, and there is no way this is going to work.

GASing hard for a foot pedal synth. Moog Taurus III is like $3k though. I can get the Minitaur for 400 and a midi controller for 500 but that's still hella coin...

RCA built Heathkit A7-E circa 1950s 12A6 power tubes 5Y3 rectifier tube (Bonus pre-war Philco radio in the back) Gut shot. Point to point wiring, no circuit board. Old school construction using the metal leads from each component and this one uses Astron "mustard caps". The new "orange drop" bass capacitor is behind the red one lower left. The squad. The red one on the right is a single ended Challenger amp like a Champ but with a 6L6 power tube instead of a 6V6 so you get a few more watts out of it.

My first thought was oh cool, what's the old radio in the back? I have an old rca victor table model that was my great grandfather's and a zenith table top. They are just folk art at this point. I'd like to have a few more, but...

My plan is to gut the chassis and rebuild it like a guitar amp. I could do the same for your tabletops. They dont use the same broadcast frequencies as when they were made so it doesn't make sense to restore them to vintage specs but the aesthetic is definitely too rad to get rid of.

Oh yeah also that funky little metal thing in the bottom is "The Fisher Preamplifier". It has a single tube and a small transformer to add some analog goodness to your signal. I was told it was used with the red amp in the old Record Plant Studio in NYC but I think it needs a new tube which I don't have on hand. I worked on the combo some today with a couple loose wires on the input and bad speaker cables wasting my time in a good way.

I made a new signal chain for the synth. Ring mod > overdrive > compressor > distortion > phaser > delay
I think the new delay is digital though even though it said analog

Either that is the smallest pedal I've ever seen or you have giant hands.

Then I think back to October when I was telling lady that I should buy as many as I can and wait to profit. Damn it... I'm just going to stick with the Haymakers.
