I called the police because the lady across the street was shooting at a repo-man last year when the police the cop drew a gun on me, and now I have to testify in court.
Needless to say I will never ever call the police again, should someone attempt to break into my house they will be killed, composted and used as fertilizer...
I have zero need for a police officer to protect me since they weren't protecting me to begin with. Cops are unnecessary.

So bad people are already forming gangs and running shit.
Stores are looted all the time, and might not be if they had armed gaurds and the cashiers had shotguns under the counters.
The cops cause chaos they do not quell it.
Cops don't prevent rampant rape.
Child molesters usually walk free, I know a guy who is doing life without parole for a 10 pack of acid.
For fucks sake man you really need to do better than that crap.

I think an overhaul of the system is necessary. More community policing to put cops and citizens on the same level so there isn't a huge disconnect. Might keep things from escalating on both sides of the coin more often.

They're needs to be more of an effort towards community policing, of course the police show no interest in it, because the community shows no interest in it either..
Instead what you get is what really does amount to armed gangs harassing citizens in order to make budgetary demands every month. They've been given free reign to be judge, jury and executioner because they don't have to report to anyone anymore..
The body cameras is an illusionary thing, false sense of comfort to pacify the twitter activists, I'd like to see a movement to ban guns in the hands of cops on patrol, maybe they can have less lethal weapons(MAYBE, in high crime areas), but the big guns can only be brought out for serious calls. I could see that as a first step to cops working with a community instead of against it because theyd lose that power of knowing they could kill someone for not 'respectin mah authortah'

How dare Honk point out that police are just tools of the state apparatus...
Like any conflict one side is gonna need to de-escalate before things get more serious, and as the cops are in the position of power they need to take the first steps.. Instead they are militarizing and all the brutality is continuing
Laws are only as strong as the people that enforce them, and the cops are getting awfully authoritarian so what does that tell you? We want to reduce our prison population and change the criminal justice system and in my mind it starts with the attitudes of the police..
Of course the community has to be receptive to changes as well, but I think they are for the most part...
A lot of this mirrors the political mood and sentiment of the times..
You'd like to see things get better, and part of that involves challenging the power structure, not supporting them and dismissing it as a few bad apples.. they are an institution not independent actors

Drug are illegal because the police unions and their lobbyists have convinced people that drugs are dangerous and that we must be protected against them by the police. So they instituted Mandatory minimums and cracked down so now we're safe right?

Yeah I'm down for this initiative. Making Honky chief of police that is.
They don't add an element of safety for me. It's illusionary. If something were to happen it would be done and over before police could get on the scene. They are there to pick up the pieces and find someone to blame guilty or not. That way white suburbanites can rest easy knowing that someone is in jail.
