I want to get sterilized but I've heard it's difficult to do as a woman without children. I will be discussing it with my dr. And if my dr resists, I will be seeking another.
See, I can't even get my tubes tied off the bat. (I haven't talked to the dr so I might be mistaken).

I think conservative religious white people get all bent out of shape as well because they see the changing (browning) demographics and think that fewer white babies will speed up their dwindling numbers to eventually becoming an ethnic minority (oh, the horror) in the US. this might be a stretch...

Amster, I asked to get my tubes tied after I had my kid and the doctor said that I was too young (I was 32 lol). I could have switched hospitals and had it done I think.

I have always believed we should be allowed to do to our bodies what we see fit. It is a womans body and it is her right to do what she wants to it.

It'd be a stretch to suggest all conservative religious white people.... but it does seem to be a thing among some. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_genocide_conspiracy_theory

Thanks all, for having a mostly respectful and adult conversation. Even though we don't agree on everything, I love you all.

Me and my ex had an abortion almost ten years ago. It’s a crazy thought. Ultimately, I could say whatever I want but it wasn’t my choice. Fast forward to current times and there is still a weird weight on my shoulders regarding it. We’re we ready? No. Could we have handled it? Sure

I know folks that had children when they were not yet prepared and have resented it ever since. Feel pissed about missing out of the opportunities life presents without children, etc. Children are a dominating variable in a parent's life and adds unique limitations in most all aspects of life and personal pursuits. Its a tough call.
As a couple, we decided long ago to both not play games with birth control and accept a pregnancy if it ever happened. Somewhere along the line we tested the whole thing and left things up to chance. That chance hasnt taken and it has been nearly 10 years. That said, we have never taken extra efforts to make it happen so it may be just a little medical assistance and its all good from there.
Life throws everyone varying and complicated circumstances and we all are going to react in different ways. Our reactions when right at one time, can prove to feel wrong at a later time and vice versa. No one in this thread has the right answer. We can however accept that there are various perspectives and learn from each other and our experiences, or we can talk loudly and totally miss an opportunity to grow.

I definitely feel like I missed out on some things since Legs and I started having kids so early...We missed out on being young together and traveling and having disposable income...not to mention had we waited a few years we would have been on more solid financial footing.
Our love and our love for our children have made all the difference though. I really wouldn't change anything if I could.
