Chronic- the educational system was built on classism and racism and those systems are still upheld today. If they weren't, schools in the hood wouldn't be awful. My sister teaches in what a lot of people would call the hood, and her school is really well funded and has a great curriculum. They gave every student a laptop at the beginning of this thing, and have supported the students better than a lot of middle class schools. The problem is the students and the parents do not care, even before the pandemic. I know that this stems from systematic racism in this country. The cycle of poverty and apathy is real. So, what can they do better? How do they energize families to buy into public education as a means of empowerment and mobility? Clearly, the answer isn’t to disregard grammar. |

I never said that a disregard for grammar was the answer. I simply stated that a meme is not formal writing. I agree that the poverty cycle is the problem. That will only be fixed when wages increase, which is another mess altogether. |

Certainly not getting paid for that time. I was on at 7:15 and I’ll probably get done around 6. So, they are really stealing from me. Childhood Education should not be a "local issue." In Japan teachers are Federal Employees. They should be here too IMO.
