I hope you are wrong. I hope there is enough good people in government to preserve democracy and even hope the media has over blown shitheads dictator dreams. I also think that the best thing we can do is carry on with a positive outlook. Have something snarky and intelligent to say when talking to Trumpers. Yet not insulting if possible. Politely point out the failures as they happen. Remind them we don't hate them even if it's a struggle. And stay positive. If you let them ruin your mood he not only won the election. He won a free spot where your happiness could be.

I hope I'm wrong too but I'm not going to try and trick myself into thinking it's all going to be ok when everything I see and hear says it's not.

Here in America, it seems like "fight like hell" means a handful of people show up and wave signs and put bumper stickers on their cars. Maybe knit a hat.
Remember when France said they were going to cut pensions for public servants and people clogged every street and the fireman pointed the hoses at the cops who tried to disperse them? This ain't France.

No one is going to do shit. They know it. They're sitting in rooms having meetings about it.

He won a free spot where your happiness could be. In the spirit of snark, turning things back on people can be an effective, non-aggressive tactic. When someone tries pushing an overly simplistic and/or unrealistic Trumpian solution to a complex problem or situation ask them to provide details. "So, how does that work?" Keep pressing them for details like you're open to their ideas (even though you already know they're ridiculous), but that you want details on how it's going to work. When they say deporting over 10 million undocumented people who pick their fruit and vegetables, wash the dishes in the restaurants they eat at, build/construct housing or their home extension/refurb projects, work in meat packing plants, watch their kids, landscape their property, etc., all at below market wages that Americans wouldn't accept or where they just wouldn't do the work at all, and now they find themselves having trouble finding people to do those jobs and having to pay higher prices, ask them "how's that deportation thing working out for you? Have you personally, or in your neighborhood experienced a massive decrease in crime?" "How are those Trump tax cuts for the wealthy working out for you? How much did you get back, or how much less are you paying now than before?" "How are those Trump tariffs working out for you as far as helping you with your child care needs?" I think people (and esp. MAGA) are more open to changing their minds when they feel they've come to new conclusions themselves, rather than someone libsplainin' to them.

Remember when France said they were going to cut pensions for public servants and people clogged every street and the fireman pointed the hoses at the cops who tried to disperse them? This ain't France. I watched this movie last night, 'How to Blowup a Pipeline,' about pretty much that. Group of young people who realize that gathering to wave signs, put a bumper sticker on their car, or even knit a hat, though done with good intentions, ain't gonna make a dent. The petroleum industry is perfectly fine with that and prefers it to people taking direct action. So they do what the title suggests with the goal of hitting the oil companies in their pocket, disrupting the flow to impact future profits, and to inspire people to do the same before it's too late and this shit can't be mitigated to some degree more effective than waving a sign will ever do. I love a good 'No compromise in the defense of Mother Earth' story where those concerned take matters into their own hands instead of hand wringing. Very cathartic and better use of an hour and half than reading or watching the media talk even more about Trump.

Yeah I am taking a break from politics. Getting upset over the outcome isn't going to change anything. We have been here before and came through the other end ok. For now though I'd rather focus on my disappointing football team and disappointing my wife in bed. I've been on a break for 9 years. If I'm not going to do anything else other than vote then what's the point in broiling myself in anger and despair all the time and making everyone else around me miserable because I can't disengage with media. My wife already has that covered. I'm there now. I have no desire at all to hear or read about how horrible Trump's cabinet and judicial picks are. How bad the shitty law he just signed is. What crass thing he just said. I've heard it all before, even if the details change. Yesterday someone mentioned something about how it's easier for someone else to not complain all the time because they're not online as much as that person is. I think that's it right there. Better to be offline more and happy than be online more and angsty and angry. If the media makes you feel shitty about the world and yourself then disengage with the media. If you're online, only go to websites featuring content that makes you happy. Read about culture and the arts instead of what the news media constantly gives you. Stop scrolling through social media feeds, eat some L, put on some earbuds, and go for a bike ride or a hike in the woods. If you want to fight the system, then actually fight the system. Complaining about shit doesn't count.

I'd like to hope at some point over the next four years there'll be some disgruntled federal employees (whether current or new Trump hires) who consider the following:
There are many examples of physical sabotage in wartime. However, one of the most effective uses of sabotage is against organizations. The OSS manual provides numerous techniques under the title "General Interference with Organizations and Production":
- When possible, refer all matters to committees for "further study and consideration". Attempt to make the committees as large as possibleโnever fewer than five - Bring up irrelevant issues as frequently as possible. - Haggle over precise wordings of communications, minutes, resolutions. - In making work assignments, always sign out unimportant jobs first, assign important jobs to inefficient workers with poor machines. - Insist on perfect work in relatively unimportant products; send back for refinishing those with the least flaw. Approve other defective parts whose flaws are not visible to the naked eye. - To lower morale, and with it, production, be pleasant to inefficient workers; give them undeserved promotions. Discriminate against efficient workers; complain unjustly about their work. - Hold meetings when there is more critical work to be done. - Multiply procedures and clearances involved in issuing instructions, paychecks, and so on. See that multiple people must approve everything where one would do. - Spread disturbing rumors that sound like inside information.
From the section entitled, "General Devices for Lowering Morale and Creating Confusion" comes the following quintessential simple sabotage advice: "Act stupid."

Making the govt dysfunctional and them blaming it for everything bad while allowing the wealthy to do what the fuck they want has the been the entire gop agenda for the last 40 years. Sabotaging it kinda seems redundant now that they are in charge of everything.

One thing is for sure... Trump is the baddest mf'ing gangster who has ever lived. He's got "scoreboard" on The World. I don't think this at all. He is a complete dipshit that I believe deep inside, he kind of knows. The people surrounding him know that he is a complete moron, but he is the conduit for getting their shitty agenda done. He is really good at manipulating the system (courts, government norms, etc.) and appealing to the worst in people. Badass gangsters don't pretend like they never said the shit they did, they don't always blame somebody else, they say yeah I said it, fuck you if you don't like it. He's a coward and a moron, he's not a badass in any sense of the word.
