Not anywhere near being one of my favorite bands, but I like the Monkees. At least some of their stuff. Watched their show as a kid.

I vote to end the endless Dead cover band trend. Joe Russo perfected it, Im good with that. I veto that I want more endlessness of Grateful Dead music like GD Disco or Punk Rock versions or that drag Queen GD band I see them if they come thru I just think the GD catalog is deep and has vast potential for furthur bastardizations that could be enjoyable. Grateful Shred fucking shreds some dead man I recommend them for any deadhead and I like this guitar player from this Twangin The Dead as it’s just a different spin on this music we all love.

I vote to end the endless Dead cover band trend. Joe Russo perfected it, Im good with that. Yes. No. a No vote means Yes as in more of the endless GD coverers right? I bet you’d see Argentinian Dead where it’s all sung in Spanish. Spanish is a beautiful language and especially when it’s being sung by great singers huh? Change your vote and see what becomes of it.

In 2025 there will be as many post-Jerry Dead projects years as tGD had. I don't know why, but that feels strange to me. Feels Like A Stranger is usually good.

So Mayer wasn't just a well paid hired gun, or even an equity owner with a share equal to everyone else in the band - he was actually (along with Irving Azoff) the principal 'owner' of Dead & Co.? Bobby, Billy and Mickey were essentially hired tour musicians as much as they were the ingredients that gave the whole enterprise the necessary legitimacy? I'm not at all surprised this thing was formed as much as a business decision as opposed to primarily an artistic endeavor, and I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Azoff and Mayer were the principals or 'masterminds' behind it, but I kind of am surprised. Not that I think it has any real effect on the music that was played for the past 8 years, but what's the source of this "revelation?" Is this shit true (as much as anything can be true) or just some PT tier rumor/story? Mayers net worth gotta be hundreds of millions of dollars but I ain’t hating on him it’s fascinating. He’s a true master of guitar. It’s pretty cool that it can pay out like this. What’s next for him? Maybe he switches to metal and releases an album like the Gizz or maybe he studies bluegrass and he and Billy Strings partner up and Mayer becomes a billionaire guitar player? He can’t be that good? Or that cunning a business man?

This makes Dead & Co. sound like The Monkees, the Sex Pistols, or any other of those manufactured bands created by managers in order to capitalize on a trend or just plain ole exist to generate cash. Not surprised and no judgement at this point, I'm sure all involved are happy to the point where they decided to participate, but it seems odd that Mayer/Azoff are the principals and the Core 3 are just the hired hands. Y9u take that back bout the got damb monkees! 😆 Monkees were a huge influence on The Beatles.

The best thing for me about reading that news is that maybe Sturgill’s ass is going to get back out and ter…..really want to catch him live.

It doesn’t get more 80’s than that. I was watching that thinking that all this is missing is a sax solo, then boom there it was. They did not show anyone playing a sax but there was a solo nonetheless. My guess is that during the 80's, the production room soundboard has several buttons on it that read, sax solo 1, sax solo 2, and sax solo 3
