Real adult responses happening so far! Just don’t insult people after you make a statement. That’s all that people are made about. We all fundamentally agree with each other. It doesn’t come off as talking friendly shit. If that is what your going for that’s cool but it’s hard to see on the trons Where did I insult people after responding to them today? I've gotten nothing but "you think you know more than us" and "you can't comprehend my answers" after asking direct questions. Conversation isn't just agreement. I've been talked down to by all the people I've responded to in a negative fashion and I'm expected to be civil but thats never expected of them. Fucking dumb.

I agree that people say things to you that make real conversation basically impossible. I really do agree with you on a lot of things and you have shifted my paradigm in the past. I don’t know what you did today but you follow a good point with a insult sometimes. That’s why people get upset. Your not alone in that action either. If it’s just joshin talking shit it’s all good but that’s hard to do without high fives

I'm definitely pretty "edgy" about this, it's just so disheartening seeing so many posts on Twitter or instagram downplaying the war or encouraging awful shit, and its only getting worse.
I'm sorry I called SolarGarlic a ghoul but I also don't really appreciate trying to have civil engagements then be told "oh, so it's all or nothing", that wasn't in line with what I was asking at all.
The comments about "Pro-Palestinian" protesters doing anti-semitic stuff or lighting flags on fire sounds an awful lot like Donald Trumps claims of "Muslims celebrating after 9/11", incredibly muddy claims that paint Palestinians who have nothing to do with that event in a negative light. They should be viewed with a grain of salt at best, anti-semites will find events to go to. That's their bread and butter.

Doc. I think there has been some progress made in an effort to listen to each other. I respect that you are passionate about this. What is happening in gaza is absolutely horrible. I want to listen to you and be able to engage in a dialog that doesn't have us trying to one up each other and resort to personal attacks. It is important for all of us, myself included, to try to remain objective in such a conversation. It is easy to let our emotions get in the way of that when we are seeing the images from attacks of both sides of this conflict. There are folks among us here that have a personal connection to this. I think some of us chose a "side" from the start and it is easy to gravitate towards narratives that support those viewpoints. I don't want to restart the back and forth that we engaged in this week.

I urge everyone to try to navigate the murky path of misinformation. This piece makes an effort to show a glimpse both sides. Obviously it's just a snapshot.

I don't want to see this go down anymore. We(US) should be trying to negotiate a cease-fire. The airstrikes are not gaining anything. We are repeating mistakes of our past. It's hard to watch the hubris.

It's hard to watch the hubris. What's with (the) Biden (administration) not even wanting any mentions of the words "cease-fire" or restraint? Not liking use of "the other team" either. Looks like there are a lot of problems over at the State Dept.. Looks like everyone but those at the top want a cease-fire and some sort of path to peace. Maybe they gotta look tough so as not to give the GOP an opening for criticizing Biden as weak? Maybe he just likes war, whatever strategic advantages it provides, and the profits for the US that come with it?

I think that’s a problem in the age we live in. It’s so easy for ANYONE to post “news” or a video or whatever and if enough people share it, it somehow becomes news. You’ve also got people straight up lying. On top of that you have AI which is scary and then you’ve got the media trying to keep up on breaking news. People don’t want to wait for the whole story, they want it NOW which unfortunately leads to incomplete and false information. Also, like Higs mentioned, it’s natural to gravitate towards information that aligns with your beliefs. At the same time, it’s great because it makes it harder for people to hide information. This isn’t WWll where you have to wait days or weeks for updates.

This isn’t WWll where you have to wait days or weeks for updates. It's been made worse by Twitter becoming a cesspool and media types grabbing for a smaller piece of the pie. Being accurate doesn't matter, being first does. Jon Stewart just quit his Apple show because they didn't want him to talk about China and some other "sensitive" issues.

People gravitate toward information that aligns with their beliefs and the media has caught on (or led the way and was the cause of this?) and geared their broadcasts toward certain defined segments of the audience. It didn't used to be this way and now you have less of people arguing about their opinions of the facts and instead arguing about what the facts actually are.
