I had a pretty fun night at a floating concert with the band on a very large boat. The audience was BYOboat and a standing dock. Its fundraiser for the boat renting center which is an awesome non profit.
Earlier this summer I rented a Kayak from them and paddled a few miles of inland ocean shoreline.
Today I borrowed a inflatable Kayak that was a pain to inflate but floated pretty chill for the show.

So what kind of watercraft have you done this year/summer?
Tube float? Surf? White water? Booze cruise?

Last weekend I drove my car onto a ferry!
Love that about WA. A short ride but $20 to go to a small chill island for the day. We hiked, beached but no swim, and grilled out.
Lots of water around here but no good swimming. But water activities

Id like to get into kayaking and kayak camping but my dog wouldn't do it so not right now. I really love creek walk hiking. Hiking several miles IN the creek, at least for part of a particular hike.
I am planning to do some hllbender surveys in a few weeks. Crawling and snorkeling around mountain streams and noodling for snot otters! Still no boat involved.

Planning a few waterfall hikes in PA, NY and NH next week. Then more the last weekend of this month in SC.

I used a ferry in Mammoth Cave NP in KY! It was short but pretty cool.

Holy crap. No hiking in streams and swimming and all that's fits the thread.
That's pretty cool and adventurous

Had the paddle boards out a few times at the beginning of summer, been rafting a few times too. Witnessed a raft rodeo. That was fun.

We have a canoe but I haven't gotten it out yet this summer. The oldest boy has taken it a few times

we take our inflateable boat to the... pool. for real though we rented a boat for like 8 hours last month to go snorkeling. it was awesome and less than $200 i think. my first time driving one, little bear's second. it was a rigid inflateable boat like this:

I love taking ferries. Some of my earliest memories are riding a paddlewheel boat across the river.

We rent pontoon boats and get a group together for Shell Island. There’s nothing out there but it’s in between the bay and the gulf so it’s gorgeous. Everyone just anchors and it’s a big party but still kid friendly.
Sometimes we take Rich’s family boat out but honestly, it’s so much easier when the boat is already in the water and there’s no towing/launching/parking involved.
We have kayaks at his parents but we don’t use them as much with Abbs.

Renting is great. Owning sounds like a PITA.

When I worked for a nursery in OR I got to make deliveries to clients all the way up to Bellingham and sometimes the islands. They always gave me a few days extra before I had to get the truck back so instead of staying in hotels it was camping on the islands. San Juan is probably my favorite.

That's awesome! I'm up in bham. There is 1 ferry to lumni Island from here, but drive 45 minutes to Anacortes and you can pick from like 6 of the San Juan's. You can't really go wrong. We like orcas and San Juan but guemes and Lopez are chill.
There even do a 1 night camping fest on San Juan called Island jam we like to go every year. Without that it's hard to find camping there are not many public lands on San Juan.
You can even deer hunt out there but there is 0% public hunting land, so you have to know someone.
