I’m going to see BEAT tonight to see my all time favorite guitar player Adrian Belew play the early 80’s new wave era King Crimson with OG bassman Tony Levin who is super talented and cool as fuck and Danny Carey on the drum throne and then we got this Fripp stuntman Steve Vai playing guitar parts too. I’ve heard good things about the set list and I can’t fucking believe it but StubHub is throwing $3 tickets and it’s Celebrity Theatre in the round so I’m fucking going I don’t care it’s a fucking school night!

Everyone is pussing out on BEAT so I guess I’m gonna fly solo. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a concert myself but seriously I can’t think of a better show to see by myself. C me there!

How do you turn down a $3 ticket to see that lineup? fuckit I bought 5 tickets and gonna stretch out or maybe I’ll round up some Komodo dragons from the blade as Celeb Theatre although nice room is in a real shithole neighborhood in Phoenix. |

Good interview. Marc did a lot of interrupting quick into Belew's answers, but it all flowed and it was interesting hearing about how he's worked.

I probably won't make the Chicago show but I absolutely love Adrian Belew! 3 years ago, possibly to the day, Autophil and myself saw Adrian and Jerry Harrison with Turkuaz in Milwaukee and it was an EPIC EPIC EPIC show! Was my 2nd time seeing Adrian, first time was seeing him open up and play with Umphrey's in 07 at my very first UM show. His work with Talking Heads is incredible and off course with King Crimson and Zappa but his work that he did with Bowie is incredibly underrated too! You can find a couple of live recordings on youtube of him with Bowie and it's fucking awesome!

I liked when Maron asked about practice and if Belew had a routine/regimen, and like the answer to 'does he read music?' he was all like 'nah.' Just doing hours of that same stereotypical 80's Crimson gamelan riff with Fripp. It was interesting because the last interview I read was in a cover story of some Guitar magazine where Trey and the interviewer were all getting into details on Trey's practice regimen and how important he feels it is to his playing. |
