theghostdiaries.com/did-aleister-crowley-open-an-interdimensional-portal-in-1918/Crowley sought to combine the two theories of extraterrestrial life and paranormal activity. Lam was an entity that Crowley invoked in 1918. A drawing of LAM that Crowley produced has a strong resemblance to the ‘grey aliens’ of modern UFOlogy. Lam is the Tibetan word for path or way. In the 1970s, some of Crowley’s initiates of the OTO, Ordo Templi Orientis, say they managed to summon LAM, the entity that Crowley believed was an order of being that could open a portal between dimensions. The Cult of Lam was formed to formalize the group’s adherence to magic and to include an interdimensional, celestial element.

Crowley was a rabid drug fiend who'd ingest any drug he could get his hands on. Interesting guy, but total junkie.

My favorite thing Crowley ever said was:
Those who find me holy, call me Crow-lee Those who find me foul, call me Krau-lee

Amongst my closest friends in the 90's were a couple who were very into the OTO. I went to a bunch of gatherings, knew several members of the lodge, and am fairly knowledgeable (compared to the average person) on the OTO.
The thing that I couldn't help but notice, is that for a group that practices magik, casting spells, shaping reality to what you want it to be, etc., most of the members of the lodge created a reality where they worked at convenience stores or had some other lame job, were strung out, on food stamps, couldn't maintain a relationship, etc.. Sometimes just one of these things, sometimes a whole bunch of them. You'd think if you had the power to manifest that which you desired in the universe you'd aim higher. Maybe they just weren't doing it right.... To be fair, one guy and his long time girlfriend really had their shit together. He was a math genius working on his doctorate in computer science and was easily the most interesting person in the lodge. Everybody else seemed to manifest varying degrees of personal dysfunction. If you had a decent job, car, and place to live you were a standout. Nice people, but most were far from having their shit together.
Then again, there were hardcore guys like Jack Parsons who were in deep, but look at how things turned out for him.

the person i know owns his own printing company.
his big story is he went to a ceremony seeking major change in his life.
next week his house burnt down.
id call that change, perhaps not what he intended
all the people who went to the event i attended were all very north shore chicag stylish. few exceptions of course. i went more hippy, was wishing i had geared up, robert grahm style

Of course not, but if you're going to use magik to manifest your own reality, while you might not use it to create a life of success based on material things, you'd think you'd at least use your magikical abilities to create a life for yourself that didn't include being on food stamps because of working at a low wage shitty job that you hate and complain about regularly, along with totally dysfunctional relationships and drug/alcohol addiction related issues. Even if you held disdain for things materialistic, you'd at least manifest a life of joy and ease compared to one filled with unhappiness, hardship, and struggle
You don't have to manifest a nice car, a nice house, an extremely well paying job, champagne and caviar, etc., but it's not really being materialistic to manifest a life with a decent car, job and place to live along with a regular diet where you weren't limited by your monthly food stamp allowance. For whatever reasons, a lot of the people I knew in the OTO had trouble manifesting even a basic but decent life. Unless their whole goal of using magik was to manifest a life with a shit job, no car, closet sized apartment, drug and relationship problems, and eat crap food because that's all they could afford? If that was the case, then their practice of magik allowed them to create great lives filled with success.

If that was the case, then their practice of magik allowed them to create great lives filled with success. i would think that everything has limitations and i dont think this is like bewitched magic, wrinkle your nose and bam. this magik is based on will and intent.. lots dont always understand their true intent or what they will.. this can skew the results. perhaps they are getting exactly what they need to get what they need. take my friend for example.. he wanted to change his life.. his house burned down.. he got what he wanted. major change its hard to place constraints, limitations possible affects on the unknown.. i dont think you factor what you dont know into your analysis. perhaps the goal of magik is not the acquisition of material. magik is of the energetic world.. it can only do so much.. the rest is up to the person. its not a cure all for the masses.. if shit was that easy we would all be doing it.. clearly its not.
