The paint pen didn't work on the pumpkin, it was too pointy. I actually ended up just using a stencil from the pumpkin carving kit. It was definitely the training-wheels type of method, as I just stuck the stencil to the pumpkin and put plastic wrap around it.
Next time I want to find a better way of drawing on a dark pumpkin so I can use some of my fancier stencils.

waited to long to carve.. didnt start til tricker treaters where already on the march so i rushed it.. i had this spider with its legs going out to spell DMT. busted off part of the D.. oh well.. next year

My pumpkin is still in great shape. I sprayed it with some clear enamel after carving it and it hasn't decomposed at all.

I edited the title to keep it open.
I'm not doing that many this year, but I will be signing in.
I actually got contacted by a couple people who may want to hire me to do it. Both are in NYC, so we'll see if it comes through, and if it's worth my time.
Other than that, I know three of the 4 that I am doing. My friends daughter requested SpongeBob, so I have to do that. I am re-doing The Count for another friends toddler, and of course.....every pumpkin carver is doing a Trumpkin this year, so I will be doing that as well. I just have to figure out my last one, which will be pretty elaborate compared to the other three.

you should tell people that your are a pumpkin carving artist but when you say it you should pronounce it "art-eest." you can tell people that you've had your work shown at all the top galleries in Chelsea.
