Well, I was kind of fighting with starting a thread on this subject and things related to consciousness....not sure how many people are really into discussing it, but it is at least a place to put interesting items related to such...hell, just smoke a joint and listen...hah. Also made the thread so I won't be clogging up the 'What are you thinking about' thread w/my shit.. There is a great amount of material from Watts on youtube, but this was put up a few days ago and it is so fuckin' deep..haha... but so well explained that it had to be posted..lol. As always, I find and I hear what I need to at the right time...that has always been amazing to me. Also, he's pretty damn funny in this... Disagree w McKenna there. Separate entities. Psychedelics can be an aid, but I think with proper practice you move away from surface level "tripping" down a windier path

Meditation should be to move past the illusion of self.
Psychedelic drugs is catering to the desires of the self. Gotta move past that. Yearning for enlightenment. A quick fix.
Tm for sure has at it's most shallow "self" improvement aspects. But it goes deeper than that.

I don't discredit the psychedelic experience, but I also don't over value it anymore in my life's journey. Becomes cosmic navel gazing at a certain point. I think I just relate more with a Buddhist ascetic aesthetic. Zen through simplicity, through work. Chop wood, carry water Deems and spiritual gurus. 10 day vipasanna(which I plan on doing). So ego centric hyper Reagan era American yuppie vibes. Get there quick, when it takes ascetics a lifetime to get there in a fuller experience. When the soul is ready for it |

I can see why though..it's because you're already in that state....not saying I'm experienced like those monks ffs...but when you are in a holotropic state for months it's pretty much like being on acid the entire time...your senses are heightened to the n'th degree...feels great....this may be an understatement From the link you posted...agreed What matters is what you do with visionary experiences once you have had them, how you integrate them into your life, what lessons you learn from them and how you act on those lessons. |

But seriously I first heard of Sam Harris when looking up Buddhism and atheism or atheism and meditation or some shit like that and came across an article he wrote..
I posted it on the old base and I think it was Toys who said, "my atheism doesn't need a guru."
