do you think that vegan foods and preparations cost more money and time than most folks who prepare thier foods otherwise?
I am just curious if youve had to sacrifice in other ways aside from taste buds to pursue a stricter diet. On one hand, I believe that everyone should start by preparing thier foods and not getting prepared food, just to have a connection with the food. But then beyond that, sometimes I dont know if transitioning to a crazy strict diet that gets too costly and takes a ridiculous amount of time offers a balance of return that is either realistic or worth while depending on the situation.
Like could a mother of 3 with a full time job and occasional overtime really integrate some of these ideals into her families life or is it ultimately more restricted than that?

Depends what falls under the category of "otherwise".
If you are talking about either processed frozen food that comes in a box that gets thrown in the oven, or fast food burgers, then yes.
Preparing vegan meals is more costly and time consuming than turning on an oven, waiting for the ding, opening a box, putting food in the oven then waiting for the ding again.

As far as parenting goes, that is a whole different level of responsibility and multitasking that I am not qualified to make any comments on.

oh, I mean like, there is using fresh ingrediaents from the cheap area of the produce sectiona dn avoiding packaged foods,
and then there are extreme measures like all organic or vegan standards and limitations.
I was just thinking if there is a realistic way cost wise and time wise for folks to pursue that full on or if it is more of a premiaum lifestyle or whatever.
I was just kind of thinking out loudish about the balance of value of the diet and how much it costs the lifestyle, Does it take extreme diets to be healthy? Is it valuable to ahve strict constraints to a diet? Can you make as positive of an impact without some of those restrictions?
I was just spacing out about it and typed it up, Im not sure the difference between vegetarian and vegan is really, the parenting part was more of an example where there are more variables that would make some extreme diets potentially unrealistic, but maybe not, im just rattling off
That said, I am trying to make an all veggie chili right now, included the power greens for the first time, I liked them raw, I usually only eat spinach but am trying to dversify and cut out meat almost entirely, still I will definitely eat eggs and will have occassional cheats, just trying to change the routine and consider some of these other options

The difference between vegetarians and vegans is like the difference between thumbs and fingers. All vegans are vegetarians, but not all vegetarians are vegans. If this hypothetical mother of three is the type of mother who sees to it to cook a meal for dinner every evening, I don't see veganism being any more time consuming or expensive. Also, I'd like to mention that vegan food is not synonymous with organic or healthy. It just does not have anything that came from an animal in it. spoonuniversity.com/live/30-surprisingly-vegan-foods/

sweet, yeah, I wasnt sure if there was a huge difference or not. Growing up there was a ot of mac and cheese and hamburge helper, im lucky that my parents definitely prepared a lot of meals, I know of folks that grew up getting meals from a sack most the time and these are all things that shape our attitudes toward food as adults. It has been a struggle to realign my food relationship the last couple years but its coming around. Knowing what is ideal is the first step, realizing that ideal is a whole other thing.
Good on ya for diving in so deep with the stuff, im still taking my time, but its been nice not having acid reflux and not snoring for the last year.

No, no, no. I don't want it to be made out of cows. I just want it to look like it is made out of cows.

Tree, The problem is corporate garbage is inexpensive for many reasons that include government subsidies, that in effect make bad food cheaper an good food to be more expensive due to regulation and lack of subsidization. Almost every food product in your local piece of shit store has Corn, Wheat, Sugar, etc. in EVERY fucking item you see (subsidized). You have to hunt to find the right things, if all these subsidies were not in place the food with chemicals in them that are bad for you would actually be more expensive than sustainable organic food, vegetarian, etc. For me the Vegetarian/Veagan stuff i'll eat if it does not have any fucked up weird ingredients, which is hard to keep track of because they use different ingredients you may be unfamiliar with. A 4 dollar meal at wendy's seems appealing when eatign helthy seems so expensive, but as for me and my uncle on a whole we spend the same or less on food that we used to, maily because we don't eat 75% of what we used to. Growing food is the way out
