After some initial problems with latency and CPU settings I am up and running in Ableton. I just learned that my Microbrute is a MIDI controller via USB so I'm already jamming my way through the tutorial without having to buy more gear. I was eyeballing the Novation Launchpad Mini...

I haven't turned my pc on in a long, long time and it's been offline for years at this point. I'd love to be able to get something like that going, but I'd be a little nervous about putting it online due to the outdated firewall and anti virus.

The Olympia fuzz finally got delivered today. I'm going to try it out later along with the Levitation that arrived Saturday. I think the Levitation is going to be the "one" reverb I've been searching for.

My interface also came with a the Protools intro version as well so I'm going to try that next. Ableton seems to be more for beats and midi workflow and I am under the impression Protools has a setup that is a bit easier to use with instruments. Perhaps EllisD has some experience? Ableton can do it all as far as DAWs go, but it really focuses on loops and MIDI. I've never used pro tools, I was a long time logic user then they went mac only so I switched to FLstudio. I've only been using ableton lite for 2 years since I got my new computer. !!Automation is the most powerful tool to learn in any DAW. I use Ableton as the "heartbeat" for my setup. I only use it for MIDI sequencing and a master clock to keep everything in time. I really try and do everything out of the box. I don't mix or record anything in ableton. All I use is a mackie 1202 and a zoom h1n when I record stuff. When I used to care about finishing songs I would put a little EQ and some limiting on it in the computer. All that being said I know a lot about what i use ableton for. Dont know much about recording into ableton.

Gotta have a nice mic circuit to record with... This is an upgrade kit from mic-parts.com for an MXL 990 mic

It's like a puzzle and then you solder it when you're finished

I've already googled and researched, but is there anything I should be aware of about cleaning pots? The Pigtronix Philosopher's Twin I have is super scratchy. Every knob makes a lot of noise when turned.

Nah spray the shit out of it with an electronics cleaner like crc or similar and then twist the knobs a spell to get the gunk out. Do it in the back of the pot so you make sure you get inside of it on the wiper contacts instead of just the outside

I gave it a good go tonight. So many knobs. So many options. The Pharohs stacked sound like the pumpkins. Muff city. The Olympia is an awesome fuzz. The straight dirty channel on the amp is sweet. Kind of eliminates the need for the overdrives. I'm still experimenting. I need more variety in the effects loop.

New battle station. I am really digging Abelton Live Lite. I spent yesterday looking for bass plugins because they are lacking. I'm hoping to finish at least 1 song this week.
