I like the song as is. Always have. Lucky you. Can't stand it myself, but I've got a whole bunch of tunes that'll drive everyone crazy so shit evens out.

weird memory, i did this church camp as a kid and one of the younger counselors was a girl and i had a big crush on her. i had to have been younger than 10yo (she was at least 13), so really long time ago, but that ryan adams song still makes me think of this girl for some reason, always has.
Also, I was obsessed with the ribin hood thing a while, used to make my own bows and arros with stics and kite string.
anyway, Ryan adams > Bryan adams...

Nothing against bob, other than the fact that he can't play live anymore but Neil all day all day! After the gold rush, harvest, Zuma and Deja Vu with CSNY are all pretty flawless albums IMO

I'm inclined to say Dylan... but this thread made me put on some Neil. and upon further consideration, I think I'll vote "turtles".... because they are two legends and I can't decide.

Neil for the rocking and the live stuff, Bob for the songwriting. I could listen to Garcia sing Dylan songs all day every day.

Dylan is a great writer but he can't sing to save his live.

Dylan for me, love them both but Bob's songs have always struck a deeper chord for me.

Went with Bob..
He's a better songwriter imo.. Live Neil has lapped him at this point.. I can get sick of Neil's voice, and the monsanto years album was awful. solidified my vote..
It's like Neil is steadily very good. Bob can be frustrating and bad live today, but altogether unbelievably amazing in parts of his career. I also like that he didnt play Woodstock

Always have liked both of their voices.
I'm a fan of the untrained voice. I think it delivers the emotive capacity of lyrics better.

Am I an asshole if I think Tom Waits has been better than both of them consistently for idk the last 30 years?...

That thumbs up was for agreement, not thinking your an asshole for thinking TW has been better than both, consistency wise, for the last thirty years. I'd go back farther than that.

Freedumb, did you see the Netflix doc on Keith Richards? I had no idea he and Tom Waits were such good friends.

Something about the timelessness of Dylan's songwriting is unparalleled with me except for Robert Hunter's

Neil. Just barely. Bob's classics are maybe just a little better than Neil's classics, but Neil wins solely based on live performance. Bonnaroo 2002 for the win!!
To be fair... both have made some forgettable music over the past 10-15 years.
