You can pass anything with a simple majority in a budget reconciliation bill, and it cannot be stalled in the Senate by filibuster, and it does not need the President's signature. That is how to do it. It's legal and available. Will they?
Reconciliation is a legislative process of the United States Congress that expedites the passage of certain budgetary legislation in the United States Senate. ... Reconciliation bills can be passed on spending, revenue, and the federal debt limit, and the Senate can pass one bill per year affecting each subject.

I was under the impression that it was always Biden's goal to add $1,400 to the $600 that Congress passed and Trump signed for a grand total of 2k, but I guess I'm wrong about that and promises were made to make it an additional 2k to already existing $600.
Considering his propensity for gaffes, I'm guessing there'll be lots of Biden mispeaks over the next four years.
I'm willing to give the guy his 100 day honeymoon, even if others aren't. After that, I don't want to be the guy who's giving him a permanent pass because "what about Trump?"
Looking back, it's a similar feeling to '09 after those 8 terrible years of Bush/Cheney. When is America gonna wake up and realize that the GOP Presidencys always end in a giant 'thank god that's over' sigh of relief? Unless of course there's a shit ton of Americans who actually like the results after 8 years of Bush/Cheney and 4 of Trump.
I still think Bush/Cheny was worse than Trump. Maybe because 8 years is longer than 4. The worst I could imagine would be 8 years of Trump/Cheney where Trump was the ceremonial head and Cheney the man pulling the strings backstage.

I consider myself a moderate liberal. Left of Joe, little to the right of Bernie. But I'm sure the next thing I'm gonna say is going to make me sound like an ignorant caveman but... why "we" insist on burning up so much political capital over the "transgender in the military" thing is beyond my comprehension. How many people are we talking about here? A couple hundred maybe? Yes they should be able to serve and be protected of course but first thing out of the gate we need to make a big "splash" over this particular issue? Really? As an Army vet I can assure you this it's not well received... especially considering the poster person for this is Chelsea Manning, who is viewed as a traitor... obviously "traitors" come in all shapes and sizes but she does not benefit their cause. It really galvanizes the hell out the "other side" too.
Let's go to war over something that benefits the most people and take on these kind of issues down the road...

if your goal is to keep the populace split and warring against each other, starting with Transgenders sure is a great way to start, definitely a right wing hot button issue.
one would think you should focus on unifying issue, work thru some of those then go for the hot button issues after emotions have cooled down a bit.

Pretty much anything having to do with "the troops" is a wedge issue. No one actually gives a fuck about them. They just like flying flags and singing songs and feeling righteous.

I disagree. I give a fuck about them. They put their lives on the line, regardless of if its because of some political nonsense, they do as ordered and sometimes die for that.
and I think that most people on both sides would like to see our wounded troops better taken care of after they get out.
the transgender issue is far far far far more a wedge issue then say veterans healthcare and things like that.
