Ok, THIS is really why I came to this site tonight/this morning... attention Baltimore area people... 2 good Rams Head Live contests for pairs of tix: 1) I meant to post this one sooner, but I'm still getting it in in time, as they're supposed to notify the winner TODAY (though I've noticed they're sometimes a little late). It's a NYE show called Grateful Gospel, with the John Kadlecik Band and Keller Willams solo. To enter, email ramsheadtix@gmail.com with the subject line "BYE 2016" and your full name. Non-transferable. 2) Fri 1/6, Jimmy's Chicken Shack (I've somehow never seen them, but I think there's a fan or two here?). By the way, not too long ago I told my one concert buddy about a Rams Head Live contest for Reverend Horton Heat tix (he's a huge fan), and he entered and won. So I've won 2 of the 3 or 4 I've entered, Amster won once (that I know of), and now my buddy won. So obviously not too many people are entering these things. |

I wish I lived closer, I'd definitely go check them out. I love Rush (or at least everything up to a certain year, and maybe a few songs after that). We have a fairly new local Rush tribute band now, made up of people from a few local bands... they're called Solar Federation... I've seen them twice now and they're pretty freakin awesome. They don't do gimmicky wigs and shit, they're all about the music. It's a 5-piece, as it takes 3 people to do Geddy's part. And it's a chick on vocals and she pretty much nails it. There is a reason there aren't very many Rush tribute bands out there, it's because nobody can really do what those guys do (same reason the real band would be done if any of the three dropped out). So I really did not have very high hopes, especially from a bar band, but both shows I saw were pretty freakin amazing. Recommended show if any Rush fans here would ever get the chance to catch them. Cheap ticket/cover too, like $10 or so. Solar Federation, remember that name. Any Baltimore area people into Shovels & Rope? I'm not too familiar with them, but I've seen some people on here post good stuff about them, so I thought I'd pass this along. They'll be at Rams Head Live on Fri 2/24 at 8pm, with John Moreland opening.
