reverb.com/blog/a-musicians-guide-to-cutting-vinylThis was written from a different perspective that the casual listener might encounter... interesting stuff in here that i didn't know anyone have any other tech-ish articles on vinyl? is this why phish vinyl skips or sucks?

Anyone ever check out the Kiss 45 by Prince? The B side is this track <3 or $, and they definitely recorded it using varying tape speeds. But if you play it at 33, it sounds pretty unmistakably like it's Sly Stone singing. It's pretty cool

This week was a good week for me and records. Found a lot of talking heads/David Byrne records on Craigslist for $40. Remain in Light, 77, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Speaking in Tounges, Little Creatures, The Name of This Band is The Talking Heads, Fear of Music, The Catherine Wheel (David Byrne), My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (David Byrne/Brian Eno). Already head fear of music and speaking in tongues, plus naked and true stories so my talking heads vinyl discography is pretty much complete. Also saw Joanna Newsom on Wednesday and picked up a copy of her album The Milk Eyed Mender at the show. And my girlfriend got 2 Sharon Jones albums for like $26 on amazon. Pretty pumped about the haul

couldn't find one. I'll put 'em here when I find 'em. The Grateful Dead’s May 1977 show at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, is widely regarded as one of the band’s top moments, and now the recording is receiving the vinyl treatment with the box set Get Shown the Light, an 11-disc collection set for release on May 5, Rolling Stone reports. The show took place on May 8 of that year at Cornell’s Barton Hall and featured the band at the height of one of their classic eras, delivering memorable renditions of Dead favorites like “Brown Eyed Women,” “Scarlet Fire” > “Fire On the Mountain,” “Saint Stephen” with “Not Fade Away,” a “One More Saturday Night” encore and more. See the full setlist from that night and listen to an archived recording below. Rolling Stone also previewed the release with one of the most revered takes of the show, the second-set closer of “Morning Dew,” which can also be streamed below. Dead archivist David Lemieux calls the performance “quite possibly one of the Grateful Dead’s best-ever live performances, singularly focused on achieving the cathartic, frenzied release of the climax of this song.” Along with the 11-disc box set, which also contains three more 1977 concerts from May 5, 7 and 9, the May 8 show will also be available as a 5-LP or 3-CD package. Pre-order the Get Shown the Light and Cornell 5/8/77 collections on Dead.net. The set will also be available for download on May 5. Barton Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY Set I: Minglewood Blues, Loser, El Paso, They Love Each Other, Jack Straw, Deal, Lazy Lightning > Supplication, Brown Eyed Women, Mama Tried, Row Jimmy, Dancin’ In The Street Set II: Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain, Estimated Prophet, Saint Stephen > Not Fade Away > Saint Stephen > Morning Dew Enc: One More Saturday Night and of course it's on Archive too.
