Yet here you hate and piss on everyone else's car, how they earn their living, if they live in an apartment, where they live in the country, etc., and act as if someone doesn't want to spend their money on what you spend yours on they are somehow poor and can't afford a gold chain and medallion or a car that costs them a whole $12k. You said vanity plates are $$$, but a lot of people would rather spend the $50 on something else - that doesn't mean they can't afford them or are otherwise poor.

My cousin's rich husband used to restore old race cars from the 20's and 30's. The type his dad used to race. Did all the restorations himself, never bought one restored by someone else. It wouldn't have been much of a hobby of his if he let other people do the restoration and he just paid them for their expenses.

And I wouldn't compare a complete custom Model A Ford with a mid-80's entry/mid-level Mercedes. Maybe in 60 years when the Mercedes is about the same age as the Ford is now.....

Good news grease monkeys! I think I can forgo the swirl flap removal because it appears my car does not seem to have them. They were put into production around September 2001 and my car was purchased in October so I think it's unlikely that it made it from Germany to Italy that quickly. Their implementation coincides with the bump from 134 horsepower to 150 horsepower, and I'm pretty sure I have the former. A removal of the superficial engine cover and examination of the fuel rail will eliminate any doubt.

Fuel filters ordered after hunting to find quality parts here in the spaghetti west. Proper spec anti-freeze is on the way from the states since the previous owner just added water to top off the leak, trim clips coming to reattach the exterior molding from a prior sideswipe, and I ordered 00 steel wool to clean the pitted alloy wheels.

Next up: pull some dents and fix the rear tailgate which is stuck closed. It's looking better every day. Thanks for reading my blahg
