Fog light is salvageable it was just dislodged. Need a new bulb and that's it. Detailing bro hooked me up with trim rejuvenator so it looks fresh now. Still hunting down the last engine tuning anomaly. I suspect it's either a vacuum leak or exhaust leak that is contributing to diminished turbo boosting. Or both. A spit shine, a replacement seat belt buckle, a new headliner and we are right as rain.

Found the leak! A big hose was loose from the turbo and causing it to use way too much fuel to compensate. Still think there might be a slight vacuum leak though. And my damn fog light fell off. Now I need the whole lens but luckily I spied a scrap car near work that I'm going to attempt to salvage parts from. L'avventura continua

Dear diesel diary, You keep me busy. I think I solved the vacuum leak with €2 of tubing. Of course BMW uses 3.5mm but most places only have 3 or 4mm but I'm on good terms with the parts store guy and I spent 220 on customer parts so he gave it to me free. I went with the slightly smaller diameter. But when I was installing it, I noticed a fuel leak on top of the engine. It's always something. It's really running good now though. I got a new seat belt buckle because mine stopped working. 20 bucks at the salvage yard. Fog lights came in, installed. Kid at work just got a '99 3 series but it's gasoline so meh. Maybe once I get past all these nuisances I can finally replace the broken CD player with a real stereo. Next up is the fuel leak and investigate the passenger airbag sensor. The latter should be easy though, just pull the front seat which is only four bolts.
