"Algund, Northern Italy. Here all the signs are in German and Italian and clearly the cultural exchange is present in the cuisine."
I spent a weekend in that area. I thought it was very interesting. They have their very own blended regional culture right there along the border.
I believe at one point we crossed over into Italy to get some dinner and didn't even know it. And I remember skiing in that region and when you get off the gondola if you make a left you're in Germany and make a right you're in Italy. It was cool.

Hungary is part of the EU but does not use euros as currency
The famous Danube river runs through the heart of the city, similarly to the Siene in Paris. The hilly half is west, Buda, and has beautiful architecture poised high over the river, and Pest in the east is flat. There are no skyscrapers in the city center because it is a UNESCO word heritage site with continuous occupation for thousands of years.
Flight here was 40 bux

This is the most interesting pizza I've ever had. The dough is fried first, then topped with sour cream and cold cuts. Bacon, cheese and Hungarian sausage which is like a cross between chorizo and kielbasa. So good.
